My First Fan Card: Tax Collector

Tax Collector
Action Card
Cost: 4-6
Trash this card. Put a Tax token on one of the supply piles.
_______
When a player buys a card, you gain a Gold per Tax token on the pile.

Alright maybe this is a dumb idea. For one thing, the tokens would have to be different colors so players could keep track of who is taxing what. Maybe instead of being able to tax any supply pile you are limited to the 10 kingdom piles? Or the victory card piles? How about this.

Tax Collector
Action Card
Cost: 5
+$2

Eh? Eh? I think there's a good variant of this cards effect out there somewhere even if I haven't thought of it yet. Read and respond.

Maybe instead of putting tokens on the supply pile, you just have a mat and put a copy of the card on your mat. Then it's clear that you are the one collecting taxes (like having the property card in monopoly). Of course, this raises the question of whether you should have to put the card on the mat from your hand, or if you can do it from the supply...

Maybe it should be "another player". I'm just thinking of taxing Golds. You buy a Gold, gain a Gold every time, and if anyone wants to buy Gold, you're getting one for free, maintaining the Gold advantage. You could probably do some accelerated BM this way, although trashing a $5 card probably slows this down.

Going off of HiveMind's idea, maybe you have to set aside the card you want to tax from your hand (or maybe from your discard).
In this case, it should be $4 i think, and also only trigger on another player.

A fun one might be some sort of duration card where you put tokens on it when people buy stuff, and get that much money the next turn, though that runs into the kingmaking problem.

Definitley only trigger on another player. This card might also work as a compliment to a Gardens strategy, by taxing the bishops or provinces. Maybe too slow.
