Just wondering if there's anything I could have done differently here? I probably missed a Peddler megaturn at some point, but other than that, I feel like most of my early game decisions were reasonable, and yet I ended up with way worse Scrying Pool draws and generally far behind. Thoughts?

Considering that you lost Peddler split (1 vs 9), SC draws will be rather mediocre.
With no villages, cantrips like Peddler and Baker are a big deal.
With TF help, Peddler is cheaper than Baker and seems the key here (as SC split as well).

You might also got some bad draws.
And your opponent also got possession first.

Yeah, that board is made for Scrying Pool. Probably just by a ton of Bakers/Peddlers and some Wharves so your Scrying Pools have something to draw. IF you can get to Teacher, you can always use the +1 action token to make a village/better draw card.

Come to think of it, If I could open 5/2, I'd get a Wharf/Peasant. Quick cycling means I could get to the Teacher fast, and give Wharf the +1 action token. Maybe skip SP altogether. Man, nice to see a board with lots of cantrips were you don't need SP.

Well, I said the board was made for Scrying Pool, but that doesn't necessarily mean you need to buy it...

Interestingly,  we had nearly identical draws and buys for the first few hands. Then you went TF/Peasant while I went for a Baker. You followed up with trade route (another terminal action). I think the cantrip supported a deck-cycling strategy , whereas top-decking a terminal action reduced deck cycling twofold. I noticed that, once I had a possession, all my terminals were dead cards, so i might as well have skipped them altogether.

It may have been lucky/unlucky draws, but focusing on deck cyclers and cantrips may have been the better play here.

An incredibly complex board. I am not entirely sure you should have topdecked another Peasant T3. I understand there's the chance of getting Scrying Pool and another Soldier, but I almost wonder if topdecking a Trade Route was just better in the long term. That way, you get to thin a little bit. Again, a very complex board that is very hard to visualize for me. I'd have to play this game out card for card to get a sense of what was done right or wrong.
