Another fun game featuring Empires cards:

Fun game. All of us got a few provinces, at least one castle, and at least one Temple. Player 2 got a ton of VP from Temples. Player 1 went for Provinces, and I went heavy for castles. One one Legionary was bought, but Overlord was played as Legionary several times. Ball was a good enough substitute for +buy this game, that Travelling Fair was only bought twice. One of the main reasons I won was that I used Haunted Woods more than anyone else and it was the only good draw.

Final scores
Player 1: 56 points (had six provinces and opulent castle)
Player 2: 52 points (incl. three provinces, two castles: a humble castle, and a king's castle to keep me from getting both.)
Me: 66 points (incl. three provinces, six castles)

Mysterious Door finding Sea Hag would be the best.

Haunted Woods is such a huge power card here it isn't even funny. Anytime there's Castles, cards that punish you for having a lot of Victory cards become cool and nice and stuff. And I mean it's the only real draw! I'm shocked no one else went for it.

Synod seems roughly as good as Wandering Minstrel. Mysterious Door just seems swingy and obnoxious.

I don't know. The focus of the thread is to report (and speak about) a single game, not to discuss the variant(s) used.

I could report an interesting IRL game of mine and mention (to clarify) that I houserule a +1 Action on my Adventurers. I don't think I should be exiled to V&FC for that, as that's not what I was mostly talking about.
Also consider that the point counter and the Black Market implementation in Dominion Online are effectively variants.

Anyway, what is actually happening here is that we are speaking about where we should speak about this. Not sure about where to put that discussion.

What happens if you Mysterious Door an Island?

You set aside a card together with the non-existing island you are setting aside.

Am I nuts, or is Synod WAY too strong? Filtering is already pretty strong (just look at Warehouse, Forum, etc) and it's ridiculous combined with a village. Granted, discarding the worst two cards out of three is much different than the worst two cards out of 7, but it still seems like an incredibly helpful effect, especially on a village.

Which is problematic since Wandering Minstrel already is one of the strongest Villages in the game.

I've played with synod, and it's amazing. I'm not sure if it needs a nerf, but it's deifnently as good as Wandering Minstrel.

It is very strong, but I don't think it's too strong because it occationally doesn't draw at all.
