Call me crazy, but I think the best opening on this board is Bonfire/Bonfire. Trash Necropolis/Copper on one hand, Copper/Copper on the other. Guaranteed Silver on turn 3, and then you build up your engine from there.

On a 5/2 start? Pillage/Pawn, I guess.

I wouldn't open pillage. I would open hp. Unless if Anna is on Top.

I think that's what my opponent wanted to do, but I disagree, everything you want is 5 or more,  talisman and pawns would slow you from getting to that point.

I think that's what my opponent wanted to do, but I disagree, everything you want is 5 or more,  talisman and pawns would slow you from getting to that point.

There's something to be said for having a whole bunch of buffer cards for Knight attacks, and there are multiple ways to eventually get rid of the Talisman. But I still don't think it's a great move here.

I'd actually say pretty much the opposite, You'll usually either want to get Talisman on T1/T2 or not at all.

I'd actually say pretty much the opposite, You'll usually either want to get Talisman on T1/T2 or not at all.

What, and have 11 bad cards in your deck? Talisman is almost always awful, but when it is not awful, you want to have control of your deck first, or close to it.

Look, I'd test this in the sim but my simulator doesn't work anymore.

Why wouldn't you buy Talisman T1/T2? So you would get Ironworks/Workshop/Armory later as well? I mean sometimes it's the correct move when you want to hit $5 first. But when there is a key $4, you usually open with Ironworks and such. Talisman is not different in that regard. The later you get the gainer, the more useless it is because you can't play the cards you gain often enough.

You want Talisman to win splits. If you want it you want it early. Copper isn't a horrible treasure for buying $4 cost cards. You don't wait until later to get Talisman; by then you already lost the one split you were trying to win and it isn't worth it.

Talisman is also used for pile control.
You don't want talisman turn 1/2 if it's purpose is to get pile control.
