So why is Calamitas scummy?

First question. Do you remember anything frmo him? No? No. There's the first reason.

The rest of this case is driven by a narrative. The narrative is 'careful, avoiding everything that looks opportunistic, trying really hard to look towny."

Starts with an RVS vote on me and a few fluff post. First thing of substance:

Last game I wasn't really that relevant because my reads weren't that good. This game I'm hoping to help town more if I'm town, and help scum more if I'm scum.

I don't think there is too much behind teamlyles comment. He must have known that a comment like that would stand out and probably didn't think it through before making that comment.

These are consecutive posts:

I've got a good joke by the way. What is a billiard player's least favorite programming language?
that part looks actually akward...Still not sure who to vote for, for now I think teamlyle and silver are the most suspicious ones in here. However, silver is playing ridiculous all the time, no idea what to make of that. Therefore unvote , but that doesn't mean I think either of them is innocent.

Vote Count 1.2

Why can’t we use the starboard launch?
It’s a gift shop now.
Frak me.

SpaceAnemone (1): Roadrunner
Seprix (1): SpaceAnemone
Calamitas (1): gkrieg
teamlyle (5): mail-mi, silverspawn, diedre, EFHW, iguana (L-2)

Not Voting (4): chairs, Seprix, Calamitas, teamlyle

With 12 alive, it takes 7 to lynch.

Deadline: 6pm, 30 August.

the vote he unvotes is his RVS vote on me. THis is bad because

a) he felt the need to explain it
b) he avoids the teamlyle wagon but doesn't oppose it.
b-2) there is no apparent reason why he would even like the teamlyle wagon. it can hardly be the post he quoted.

HEre he ruins mail-mi's attempted fake hammer:

vote: teamlyle.
Haven't you already voted on him?

which is admittedly not scummy, just anti town.

I am pretty confident that is L-1 plz no derphammer
Please take it back, otherwise it is just to risky. Not that I wouldn't think it is a legit lynch, but ending the day so early would be just ridiculous (Please correct me if I am wrong with my assumption that the day ends prematurely if the lynch happens that early).

The day ends with the hidden vote. Calamitas is still not voting.

What did just happened???

surprised? yes. upset? hard to say.

Does mafia get to know who the traitor is? Or if there is a traitor?

Could of course be both, but if you're in the narrative mindset, it feels like he learned about the traitor through the flip and decided to ask for town points

more posts... there is nothing noteworthy there.

Which is the problem. Imagine you did a reread of me. You'd find tons of stuff to criticize. Just a playstyle difference? I don't think so.

Reads list

has gkrieg as top town ... very safe, he'd know that gkrieg is town... chairs, diedre, mail-mi, and me as scummy. You know what I'll say about this. Granted, I was accusing gkrieg of similar things.

But usually, if a town!noob does a reads list, it's all over the place. random stuff that doesn#t make sense.

I have no idea how convincing this all reads, but if you're following, then I don't even need to do the commentary. Just see for yourself. This is a terrible post:

Good to see silver is back at a level where I don't understand his actions at all. He is too experienced to unintentionally be that flip-floppy but I cannot see which kind of reactions he wants to provoke. Space's post might be actually kind of a scumslip but I think carelessness is the likelier option here. I cannot speak for others but I find I still don't like chairs post about the traitor. The double-voting part of the case about him is almost neglicable, but the traitor part might be an actual scumslip. The option he is neglecting by assumption is even the standard version at mafiascum.net (don't know if it is handled differnetly here). Therefore, confirm vote: chairs . I don't like diedres inactivity either but I am not sure if it is scummy inactivity or just lack of time. Pretty much nullread on the rest, have to re-read them and will write about them when I get some time later.

Anyway, I'm very interested in iguanas announced statement about silver.

Okay, now I finally have some time.

First of all, I believe iguana and think that his statement is true. He seems genuine and I don't expect him to fake all thst. However, I wonder why he didn't tell us the whole story from the start (I assume he wanted to gather more data about Silver). The rest is more strange.
Silver's explanation might or might not be true, cannot estimate that guy (Its plausible either way). Roadrunners ambigous post is just weird IMO. He sais on the one hand that he got some info he shouldn't have and sais later it is not a modslip since it has been some kind of intentional. But i am pretty sure Haddock wouldn't be so careless, doesn't fit to the image i have gotten from him via general opinion and space Anemone's post.
Additionally, he sais that he feels sorry for using that info but is actually claiming silver's innocence by claiming he has info he shouldn't have. I find that very weird and almost suspicious.
Anyway, I certainly don't want us to rely solely on such a weird post without any evidence in the case of silvers innocence. However, I'm not sure if claiming of the PR that might be the reason for the kill on Seprix (if silver is actually innocent) is the right way since that PR might be very powerful and sacrificing that role in order to safe an delayed doctor might not be worth it. Should have more opinions from other vets before that person (if there is one) actually decides to claim.

You get the idea. Just read those two long posts and ask yourself.

town who's been thrown into the water and is blindly trying to put things together

or all-knowing and trying to make a long post?

If you want something more specific, just look at the level of self-consciousness he has about his votes, despite having zero pressure on him.

And further note the total absence of posts that make you go '... okay this kind of is hard to imagine coming from scum'

Usually almost everyone has at least a few of those.

Will vote for Calamitas if SA doesn't happen.

Quote from: silverspawn
The rest of this case is driven by a narrative. The narrative is 'careful, avoiding everything that looks opportunistic, trying really hard to look towny."
And that narrative is what is the problem with the case. Replace it witn "town player who wants to avoid making mistakes to avoid getting misslynched" and all looks totally different. With either 'narrative', the rest is pure confirmation bias.
The "trying to makr a long post" argument is just ridiculous, the reason for those posts was me beeing on vacation and not having that often time to write on some days. Therefore I was writing all my thoughts of the previously read posts quickly with my phone without proofreading or anything. Its basically just an sorted "Stream of consciousness" most of the times. You should be able to check that claim by comparing the total posts on days with these long posts to the number of posts on other days.

And in how far mafia knowledge could potentially help you at writing a reads list will remain a secret for me.

"town player who wants to avoid making mistakes to avoid getting misslynched"

The problem with that is that then your scum and town play is identical.

But supernatural forces lead me to believe that you don't actively want to avoid being mislynched so persistently as town.

And you missed parts. You are too informed.

Sentence 3 was meant to say that I also accuse you of making your reads from a point of information. It feels like you already know everyone's alignment.
