Most cards in hand

I'm sure all the puzzles have been solved by now, but in case this one is new:

How many cards can you have in your hand at any moment in the first three turns?  How about at any point in any game, 4p or less?

Well the first question is how many cards can you get in your deck?

The real puzzle is finding an interesting puzzle that hasn't been done before and also covers edgecases that have previously not been thought of.

Depends on the boardsize of your hands.

I'd be surprised if the answer were different than the question "how many cards can you need in a single game of Dominion"?

Seems unlikely.  You either need Durations in play and therefore not in hand, or you need to have played cards, or you need some sort of Procession-Wharf-Graverobber shenanigans.

Also, at most three piles can be empty, so one each of a lot of cards aren't available to be in your hand, unless you can gain cards to hand without playing any other cards.

Keep in mind: Expedition can give you boundless Draw if you have enough buys and money, so you don't really need durations out or anything to have your deck in hand. Madman is not infinite but eventually "good enough"

Won't some of the engine parts needed come from 10-card piles that will take up one of the 11 kingdom card slots, instead of piles with more?

Right this is just procession procession hireling with grave robber

Do that 1000x and then figure out the max number of cards in the supply that doesn't end the game

Hireling bonfire doesn't need processions

Then you have to use two kingdom spots with graverobber and hireling. Perhaps black market with scheme and hermit/madman in it would be better? (And young witch, etc.)

EDIT: nvm, better to have graverobber and hireling in the BM deck, so you can keep all 10 madmen.

Can't you process-grave robber-hireling this into infinity? (This as responsr to the 'at any point in the game part'.)
