I can't seem to get above lvl 36.

But today I won some matches I could've easily lost, so not all's lost!

Dumped 10 Curses on a guy with 2 Familiars in very few turns (ty Chancellor and Minion) and nearly lost to his 6-4 Minion split, ugh.

Just barely made it, mostly on the strength of a lucky 7-0 day three days ago. I guess this means I should stop making excuses about being unqualified to finish the "Making it to Level 40" series of articles.

Big thanks to everyone in the community for sharing their wisdom and knowledge, especially Geronimoo/rspeer (simulators), rrenaud (councilroom), and theory (starting ds.com in the first place)!

I've made the lvl 30 mark

dropped two levels being idle since then, but still!

It's weird idea that I'd already been playing Dominion for over a year when I started here. I have learned so much in the last couple of months, and getting better made me appreciate the game even more than I already did. Lots of fun, great community!

unless i am mistaken, Obi Wan Bonogi is the first (legitimate) player to hit level 49. his level of 49.317 beats out jonts26 for the unofficial honor of having the highest level ever.

Yup, congrats to Obi Wan, very impressive indeed. jonts and Obi Wan are the only people I've played where I feel I'm being consistently outplayed (seriously Bonogi owns my soul for some reason), so it seems only fitting they should hold the two highest ratings ever

It obviously annoys me that I'm now only #3 on that list though

lol, I have little doubt that if we'd played more than 3 games, you'd come out ahead in the long run. I'm always up for a challenge though!

Wow that's cool. Crazy though because I still feel like I could play A LOT better. Where do you see the decimal expanded levels?

It's just mean score minus variance. The level you see takes the floor of that number. Also, welcome to the forum!

You're right. I wasn't precise in my terminology. I was using variance to mean the ±# that appears on the leaderboard. But of course that number is triple the standard deviation calculated from true skill. So 3 times the square root of variance to be precise.

I played terribly yesterday and dropped from 42 to the last spot in 41. I can't go back to the 30s, man. I can't!!!

Well, I'm only at around 1300 games played, but with my recent slump, it'll be a stretch to make lv. 30 by 1500 games. Maybe if I really improve a lot soon!

I'm pretty proud because I've gone 4-0 today, a couple of which were against upper-30s players (I'm 27). It's a small sample size but I've been 18-4-1 the last three or so days! I went up a level to 27 today and unless I hit a real rough patch I think I should be 28 tomorrow, hoping to hit thirty in the next week or so! Almost 450 games and I've only been here about a month and a half.

So I'm really happy to be moving up! And yet, so afraid of the inevitable massacres that I will be victim of against the really strong players...

I was like level 36, didn't play for like 6 months. Came back, dropped to 19. Now I'm back up around 31 and rising!!! Watch out!!!!!
