Ok, I can see that. But it assumes a lot of context (that the Ruins were given to him by his opponent during the current shuffle; that his deck is large enough that there's not a tiny number of cards in his discard pile, etc).

Well, if we assume the former, we can conclude that the latter is also the case — the top card of his discard pile is a Province, which means that he did not gain any Ruins after he ended his last turn, which means that any Ruins he was given that shuffle must have been before that turn, i.e. there must be at least 2 turns worth of cards in his discard pile, plus all the stuff he bought and all the Ruins he gained.

What, you didn't think the Rats / Sentry / Artificer / Diplomat / Highway / Counterfeit engine was worth attempting on that board? :P

(It's definitely a joke post but part of me wants to see if that's workable)

Obviously won't work if your opponent is contesting, but then again, if you need to contest a strategy to counter it, it's a breddy good strategy.

EDIT: Also, this was just my first try and I didn't think too hard, I'm sure you can do it way faster.

As previous game its clear from board that its basically cultist-bm where we started greening as we bought golds, trainings and peddlers instead of cultists.

Where are the Cultists? You must mean Marauder BM. In that case, surely there must be something to do with that supply besides BM. Some piles look like they are partially emptied too.

Edit: looks like Awaclus ninja'd me with a demonstration of an engine here.

Edit 2: oh you are talking about the other game with a screenshot shown here. Carry on.

You don't think that strategy would be hindered by a junking attack? That's the reason to go for Rats in my joke post (and the Rats + Sentry nonterminal draw gimmick). Still probably better to skip it but it was fun to think about.

Just had my warrior trashed by my opponent's warrior for the first time. Later in the game, his warrior discarded my Champion. At least I only lost by 4 points.

The problem with trashing attacks is they can really knock you out of the game. I once had both my Cultists killed by back-to-back Knights. Not pretty.

I opened with double Mountebank, then lost the Curse split.

.
.
.

There was Ferry, Stonemason and Lost City. My opponent Ferried the Lost Cities and then bought one. I Ferried Mountebank T1, his T2 Lost City drew me a 5th Copper and I got two Mountebanks on T2. Then he blocked just about every attack after the second, got a pair of Mountebanks himself later (T8 or so) and proceeded to win the Curse split 7-3. No trashing on the board other than Stonemason.

I once had such bad luck with familiar that I lost the Curse split 10-0, then still won by a sneaky 3-pile.

A few days ago, I played an IRL game with a friend. I opened Ambassador/Ambassador. Turn 3 I bought another Ambassador (there was the event to turn attacks into Gold, so it seemed like a not terrible play. Turn 4 drew no Ambassador, not sure what I bought. Turn 5 I drew all three Ambassadors, with a Copper and Estate.

Despite that I still almost won - he had bad luck with his Ambassadors too, and if I'd played my final turn differently I think I would have narrowly won. Never give up.

...spin-offs are still better for all of the previously cited reasons.
But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.

T plays a Trader.
T trashes a Haunted Woods.
T gains 5 Silvers.
"Oh man this Conquest buy is gonna be so worth it"
T plays 2 Coppers and a Silver.
"...oh"

Same game, I bought Farmer's Market out of Black Market.  I need sleep.

I've had those games before. I remember an Inheritance game on mf where I finally hit $7... and bought an estate.

If it was the last turn, and he only had 1 buy, then the game would have ended before he could request an undo.
