Funny Things on Isotropic

My username is a pun, it was very amusing when I played Eye Urn, as I'm sure anyone who watches the current matches would know.

Here's one funny thing I saw today, and please post yours:

FastGamePlease! begins a solitaire game.
I guess anyone was too slow for him.

You forgot to mention how ironic it was that we played each other.

There is one name I really love - "Sadly, she". Things like "Sadly, she plays a Witch" or "Sadly, she reveals a Province" (to your tournament) and of course "Sadly, she wins!" are hilarious.

I just met a guy named "It is you who accidentaly" (and there is also a guy without the last word). Also funny, but "Sadly, she" is better  ;D

Eye-urn sounds like "iron." Ferrous is a chemical term for certain iron compounds (I don't remember enough chemistry to be more specific). And, of course, Razzishi couldn't resist the pun on iron-ic.

There are a couple of other versions of this approach that make me wonder if it is all the same person and is easily bored.  I've played against (I'm paraphrashing here, having not check my game logs) "X grins mischieviously and", as well as "X giggles uncontrollably and".  It was pretty amusing.

I ran across an opponent named Voltaire, who opened Mountebank.  I couldn't resist adapting his most famous (mis-attributed) quote...

Inspired by these names, I played sometimes (not logged in) with names such as "He randomly", or, "When Chuck Norris plays Dominion, he".  It was amusing to win games using the latter name.  :)

I tried to use, "He doesn't always play Dominion. But when he does, he".  Unfortunately it got abbreviated in the logs.  Oh well.

My favorite was "Your opponent smirks and"
I've played as "he pulls a card from his sleeve and", so I would guess there's other copycats.
Also good are those names like "Hunting Party Rock Anthem". Does anyone know what that's called? When you put two phrases together with a common word?

Maybe it's one of the kinds of Zeugma, though I know it better as the game show category "Before & After".

Funniest thing I've ever seen on isotropic literally had me falling out of my seat.

So I'm playing a game (the better part of a year ago, probably last May or so) against theory, and I have some bit of lucoo-k he doesn't like. I get two messages, maybe 15 seconds apart.
First "booo!"
Then "boo-urns"

Yeah.

It only just occurred to me how funny this is.  Because, like, when you play a lot of Hunting Parties, you have to shuffle a lot.

Ha.

(No, seriously, I'm just sitting here grinning to myself because of this.)

Ferrous is a chemical term for certain iron compounds (I don't remember enough chemistry to be more specific).

"Ferrous" indicates the +2 oxidation state.  It is also not proper notation any longer.  "Iron(II)Wheel" doesn't quite have the same... ring... though.

On that note, my youtube account is Fe2+wheel as someone already had Ferrouswheel.

15:54 Thisisnotasmile: I'm sure it took me about half a year to make level 10 lol
15:54 aaron0013: we travel a lot in music evangelism so i dont get internet that often

16:00 aaron0013: hey, if you died right now, do you know for sure wher you would spend eternety?
16:01 Thisisnotasmile: 6 ft under the ground probably
16:01 aaron0013: the bible tells us that we will go to 1 of 2 places when we die
16:01 aaron0013: heaven or hell
16:01 Thisisnotasmile: awh
16:01 Thisisnotasmile: probably hell then
16:02 aaron0013: is that what you want?
16:02 Thisisnotasmile: doesn't really make any difference to me since I don't believe in religion
16:02 aaron0013: did you know that we can know that we are going to heaven?
16:02 aaron0013: it doesnt matter if we believe in it or not
16:03 aaron0013: it is still real
16:03 Thisisnotasmile: cool
16:03 aaron0013: can i show you how god says we can
16:03 Thisisnotasmile: sure, should be a laugh
16:04 aaron0013: in romans 3:23 it says for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God
16:04 aaron0013 has returned to the lobby. Iso kicked us both back into the lobby here but we carried on anyway
16:04 aaron0013: that means that everyone has done something wrong in their lives
16:04 aaron0013:
16:04 Thisisnotasmile: so we're all going to hell?
16:04 aaron0013: you sill there?
16:05 aaron0013: yes by that verse we are
16:05 aaron0013: buy
16:05 Thisisnotasmile: good to know
16:05 aaron0013: romans 6: 23 tells us that the wages of sin is death
16:05 Jehosaphat: awesome
16:05 aaron0013: which means that we have to go to hell because of our wrong deeds
16:06 aaron0013: that leaves us in a bad spot right?
16:06 aaron0013: hell is a terrible place of fire, worms, darkness and demons
16:06 Thisisnotasmile: look, at first when we started playing and discussing Dominion I thought you were a retty cool guy but this is getting a little silly now
16:07 aaron0013: but romans 10:13 says for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved
16:07 aaron0013: that is our hope
16:08 aaron0013: the only way to get eternal life in heaven is to accept what Jesus did on the cross for us
16:08 Thisisnotasmile: I already told you I was happy to go to hell and I stand by that so I won't be calling upon the Lord but thanks for the offer
16:08 Thisisnotasmile: and thanks for the game
16:08 aaron0013: i just dont want to let you go without warning

Funny I should read this.

I recently purchased the Battlestar Galactica boardgame and subsequently started on the series (at the start of season 2 now, so no spoilers please!). I once tried the series, but couldn't understand what the hell was going on. Now I started off with the 2-part miniseries which was a much better idea, can't seem to stop watching! I know some people think it's painfully slow as a soap opera, but I enjoy it very much and it's nowhere near that bad. And 9/10 on TheTvDb.com and 8.4/10 on IMDb are really high scores.

The purchase of the game really spurred my vibe and anytime they're faced with a hard choice I truly feel for 'em.

I guess I'm not surprised to see proselytizing on Isotropic. It happens everywhere. I am actually a little surprised that a huge mess of a discussion didn't erupt in the lobby when you returned there. That's usually a good way to get negative attention.
