log

I just played this game (as well as a game right before it that I didn't grab the log), but both reminded me how amazing Prince can be when properly employed.

First, when to use prince?  A game like this with great trashing, amazing TfB opportunity with Market Square, but no villages to build a great engine.  Except for Prince.  The quick trashing plus TfB from market square let me hit an early enough 8 (turn 9) to get a prince.  From there, everything just exploded.  Adding an outpost for extra turns, I was able to buy 4 provinces T14 and end the game T15.  The 5 Princes that I had in play may have been excessive, but you can just see the power explosion in such a short time on a board where you would normally be limited to 1 province a turn without Prince.

Man. I had four strips of bacon yesterday. Was one automatically undercooked, one automatically overcooked? No, let's put a stop to that right here, all four strips were excellent.

Princed Scout isn't bad at all, but Princed anything is probably a little better.

Normally Scout is bad because of its opportunity cost, but here you can get it for free with Haggler so there's absolutely no reason to ignore it!

Well... if the Market Squares have run out, maybe.

Yeaahhhh, can't agree with you on that at all. Scout is a dead card, and with JD trashing, no way I'd want Scout in my Kingdom. It doesn't draw me anything, doesn't gain me anything, it just sort of reorders my next 4 cards.

I think I'd want to prince MS, I want the +Action more than anything else.

I was just in a Prince game where Prince was the only village, and Oasis was the only +Action. My opponent ignored Prince, and I ended up getting two, one for Ambassador, one for Oasis. I just crushed him after that.

In one game I got 3 princes of spies and know that prince on top of deck from spy inspection. I topdecked scout for that prince with watchtower as spies were out. Luckily I also draw spy on that hand. That allowed me multigoons turns.

Michael Jackson, Prince, Queen, Kurt Cobain, John Lennon, Whitney Houston... Paul McCartney is probably next in line.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of people other than Paul McCartney have died since your post though.

I'm pretty sure that a lot of people other than Paul McCartney have died since your post though.

Lennon died 36 years ago; if famous musicians only die at the rate of every 6 years, that's pretty good. Also, while Prince and the others you mentioned died pretty young, if McCartney dies in 6 years, he'll be 79, which is right around his life expectancy.

But it is interesting that people have been talking about how Prince spent a lot of time developing young musicians in Minnesota while living in seclusion. That would mean that Prince set himself aside so that low-paid musicians can play more frequently. Well-played, Donald X.
