Okay, folks. If everyone hates the idea I will gladly change the format. Just looking for ways to keep things fresh... would it be better if each round began with a custom set chosen from, say, an interesting match from the main tournament? Or if we as a group choose one custom set per week, submitted and discussed in this thread?

Didn't Theory say he was gonna post the submissions to the Kingdom Challenge, along with some comments (*edit* here)? If they're out in time (or even if they're only out in time for the later rounds), we could play some of the ones that looked interesting but didn't make it into the main tournament.

I think having a mandatory "first set" for each round is a cool idea, and that there are many ways to make it work.
Probably the simplest is to generate these sets randomly each round (or, as A_S00 suggested, pulling them from the Kingdom Challenge), possibly retiring each individual card from said set after each round to keep things fresh. Every week we could have a new thread in which logs from each of these games (given 32 players: all 16 in round one, all 8 in round two, etc.) are compiled and everyone could have a discussion about what strategies worked and didn't on that particular board.

I like Perd's idea. First game of every round played using the same set.

One potential amendment: it could be announced well in advance, and there could even be a thread here devoted to discussing it before people play. The simulators could run some simulations, people could play it with friends, etc. I think that would be fun.

Idea: A pool of boards that have multiple strategies that could work as non can be deemed as being dominant without lots of testing, and even then. Maybe this as part of another idea though. Like having this for the finals matches only/mainly and having them not revealed to the players until the actual matches are about to begin(less time to prepare

).

-boards with only cards from certain sets+the basics/Colonies. Example: Alchemy board, Dominion board, Intrigue board, Prosperity board, etc.
-boards where some of the weakest cards in the game show their true situational powers
-boards where some of the best cards in the game can lose to pure BM
-board where bridge/native village are on the field but their counter is also on the field.
-board where there is a ton of attacks.... and a farmland.
-board where there is a ton of cards that are 2 kinds of cards/have special effects etc.
examples include but are not limited to: Fool's Gold, Gardens, Silk Road, and Duke.

-Remember this is just brain storming. None or all of this can be used. I won't really care lol. I just thought this up in 10 minutes =P

I like the idea of the rounds each representing limited Dominion sets. Or themes, like round one: Curse Round. round two: Speed Round. round three: Colony Round.

Just throwing this out there: what if we choose one set and each round is played until the victor wins +2 games?
