I know this became a cute joke thread and that's cool, but if nobody edits the links out of the original posts, then this thread still served its purpose - the PageRank of the website still goes up in Google and it will be easier to find in search. The spammer is still getting what they want. They should at least be edited out.

I'm going to guess theory has been busy elsewhere? Are there other moderators with edit/ban/lock powers and stuff?

The poster has been deleted/banned/removed. Why delete the thread? With the given replies, it's now an amusing discussion. Of course it should be moved to general discussion, though.

While ideally they would be removed too, at least they are not hyperlinks, so they won't help with Google PageRank at all. PageRank associates the words surrounding a hyperlink, and particularly the words that make up a hyperlink, with the URL in order to improve search quality. By posting on relatively high traffic (ish) forums like this one that have lots of links to many different sites (plus many references to witches and curses) they are able to use our legitimacy as a source of SEO Magic Power Points.
