2-cost weak Remodel (formerly Ruin-Fixer Upper)

Trash a card, gain a card with the same cost

I envision it as a counter to Swindler mostly but it might be too powerful to be a ruin.

EDIT: The card is now a 2-cost kingdom card entitled Repurpose or Refurbish.

As a new Ruin, do you see it being used just like all the other Ruins; where there will be 60 Ruins total, 10 of each, of which you use 10 random ones in a 2 player game?

I think it could be too powerful. Replacing Ruins with Coppers is pretty good. Replacing Estates with most s, if any are on the board, is quite good.

It also gives a significant advantage to the player in the lead by allowing Province -> Province.

EDIT: Not to mention Peddler -> Province.

Cultist > Duchy and Curse > Copper are also good.

I'd pay at least $2 for that card, especially in a game with no other trashing.

To be fair, some people already pay $2 for an already existing ruin, namely Ruined Market *cough* Herbalist *cough*

And then there are some who pay $11 for it.

This doesn't really function as trashing though, since the gain is mandatory.

Right, it's good for trashing your Estates if there's spammable $2s available, but that's about it.

Or if there are any cursers, or cards that like to be trashed, or Peddler, or...

Yeah, but these aren't the functions of a trasher.  This isn't going to help you thin your deck.

Right, by "that's about it" I meant that's all it does in terms of the role of a trasher. Not that it doesn't do other things as the roll of a remodler.

It seems it would need to be a 2-cost kingdom card based on the comments above.

For flavor, the name will have to change to fit the remodel theme rather than the ruin theme.

I like Repurpose, but it's not actually a word (tell that to my board of directors). The other option is Refurbish.

Oooohhh, I like polls! I followed this thread, but I didn't post. I thought this would be okay as a Ruin except for the fact that it counters other ruins.

phpBB underlines it in red... If phpBB doesn't know it... it ain't worth knowing.

I suggest making it a cantrip and possibly making the thrashing (but not the gaining) optional. It's already a niche effect, making it bad at doing its thing will mean that you'll want it even more rarely. (consider how it eats up an action and reduces handsize by two)

A better idea would be just use working seal.

Trash a card from your hand. Gain a card costing up to $2.
