Relevant joke I stole from somewhere:
So a guy is teaching his friend how to play Dominion. He sets up a kingdom, explains the rules, and now it's time to start playing. His friend draws five cards and has a $2 hand. There are no $2 kingdom cards on the board. The friend plays his $2, thinks for a while, and buys an Estate.
"Usually you don't want to get points until later in the game, since they don't do anything for your deck."
"OK then..."
The friend takes the Estate anyways, and draws his next hand: it's $5. He thinks for even longer than the first turn, and eventually he buys a Feast.
It's funny because the Feast means he won't be getting the Duchy until later, so he's still following the advice.
