Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes; Video/Live Game

I just found out about this awesome "Video Game". So, one player is at a computer, and he needs to diffuse a bomb, Hollywood style. It has all sort of bomby-puzzles. Thing is, he needs the manual to solve them, and he doesn't have it.
So, other player (1-5) have the manual - either printed, or on their phones, or over skype on another computer - but they are not allowed to see the actual bomb. Goal is to communicate and diffuse it together. Manual is complex enough that it cannot be easily memorized (too many steps in each puzzle), and it gets progressively harder, so I am not too worried about complexity, esp as you can play it with new people.

I played it for few hours this afternoon with my nephew, and it was a BLAST (pun intended). We got through easy levels and really to stuck at moderate ones - time limits are a bitch. Extremely fun, recommend it to everybody.

We could even try it here.

Neat concept.  Definitely not derivative or stale :)

I assume the manual is written in a way where you need to summarize it?

You can actually see it here:
http://www.bombmanual.com/manual/1/html/index.html

It is also manual #1, they have left it so that they can make manual #2, 3 and so on, and you just change a setting in the game and it is all different.

Puzzles are usually so that you need to gather all the info, look it up in this and that table, give feedback, receive new info, repeat.

This seems really fun (although I couldn't make much sense of the manual, lot's of symbols etc.)
Would be nice to try this via Skype with f.ds'ers :)

Am I misreading page 7? All four symbols should be in the same column, but none of them have all four symbols.

Or is that example not supposed to go with those columns?

Example is just so that you can easily recognize the module when you skim. Irrelevant to actual code.

I've now played it with my mum (Hilarious!) and with my bro over on skype - it seems to be more difficult that way.

Walrus, Nkirbit and myself have been playing this on voice chat -- it's a ton of fun. Highly recommend to anyone who's interested.

I remember doing exercises in school where one player had building blocks, and another player had a picture of a thing built from building blocks. The second person had to communicate to the first person where to put the different blocks, with the goal of making the thing in the picture.

I played this game for about 4 hours last weekend. It was so much fun we just completely lost track of time. We had about 8 people there, rotating out one on the bomb and 2 on the manual. And it's almost as much fun to watch as to play. Makes for a great party game. And it gets incredibly intense at the higher levels.

Here's a video of some people that are a lot better than we were.
