Welcome to ZM22: Shakespeare (Sorta) Blitz, by ashersky.

This game is for 8-players, and is classified as INVENTED/OPEN (blitz).  It was designed by ashersky.

Sign ups are open.

The Rules (Sorta BLITZ CHANGES IN RED BECAUSE RED IS FASTER):

The Golden Rule:
This is a game. Everyone who signs up to play must be considerate of each other, never get personal, and focus on having fun. Once the game starts, having signed up is a commitment: inactivity is just as inconsiderate as rude comments.


The Standard Rules:
1. No communication between players outside of the game thread or shared QTs at any time. This includes passing references, jokes, or cases in other games or threads, whether in context or not.
2. If the game thread is locked, do not post. If you are unsure if something is locked, ask the mod by PM.
3. Direct or verbatim quoting of mod-provided information is strictly forbidden. Paraphrasing is okay.
4. Actions with instructions that do not specify a game state will be resolved in the order they are received.
5. All night actions must be submitted within 8 hours of day ending.
6. Players must post once every 12 hours.
7. Do not edit or delete posts, ever. If you need to clarify or correct something, post again.
8. Invisible text, font size less than 10, and spoiler tags are not allowed.
9. Cryptography is not allowed.
10. The time between a lynch being reached and a flip being provided is called twilight. All players may continue posting during this time, including the lynched player.
11. Dead players may not post in thread or QT, except their Role QT. A lynched player is not "dead" until a flip has been provided.

The Voting Rules:
1. Votes should be in this format: Vote: Playername. Unambigiuous nicknames are acceptable.
2. Unvotes should be in this format: unvote or Unvote: Playername.
3. Unvotes are not required if changing your vote from one player to another.
4. You may not vote: no lynch.
5. Lynches occur when a simple majority (rounded up) of living players is reached. Once reached, a lynch cannot be undone.
6. Lynch rules vary by the number of players alive.  With 6 or more players alive, the player with the most votes at the end of the day will be lynched.  Ties are broken by coin flip.  With 5 or less players alive, if a majority lynch is not reached by the deadline, no lynch occurs.

The Rest:
1. Bold, maroon text is reserved for the Mod. Players may not use it.
2. If you have an issue or problem with the game, please PM the Mod. Do not post complaints in the game thread.
3. Mods make mistakes - please point them out gently. If they can be corrected, they will. If irreversible, they will stand as final to be commiserated over after the game.
4. If a mod error disadvantages one faction greatly, the game may be called off.
5. Ask all questions and make all requests directly to the Mod via PM. Questions deemed as "universal" (defined as questions for which the answers should be available to all players) will be requested to be re-posted in the Game Thread and answered there.
6. There are no prods.  Players are subject to modkill after missing one game day.
7. All rule violations will be dealt with according to their severity, as determined by the mod.

Deadlines:
1. Days will last 120 IRL hours.
2. Nights will last no more than 8 IRL hours.

The Set-Up:

This game is an open version of Shakespeare Mafia 2: Othello.

The game is for eight players, and consists of:

1-Shot Bulletproof Even-Night Mafia Goon
--BP stops the first WW kill only
--has a night kill on even nights
--wins when the mafia control half the town at daybreak, or nothing can stop that from happening

1-Shot Bulletproof Odd-Night Werewolf Goon
--BP stops the first mafia kill only
--has a night kill on odd nights
--wins when the werewolves control half the town at nightfall, or nothing can stop that from happening

Compulsively Vengeful Innocent Child
--mod-confirmed town at the start of the game
--must vengekill someone if he is nightkilled

5 Vanilla Townies

Days last 48 hours, nights are as short as possible, but no longer than 8 hours (dependent on mod availability).

Hey, you can sleep in between! Or better even, write a bot that every two hours quotes the latest post and votes for the person who posted it, and when you are being voted for, delivers prescripted messages about how your actions fit a town narrative.

Finally my first blitz game. I can't believe it took that long. I mean, I'm from Germany, blitz should be my favorite.

If a nightkill leads to only the two of them alive, mafia wins.  If a lynch leads to only the two of them alive, werewolf wins.

I really like the premise, but aren't the WW's at an advantage over Mafia here since they get to shoot first?

I balanced that with the divergent wincons.  WW can't win on the NK.

Ah, I didn't catch the timing difference. That has some interesting implications.

Assuming all night kills go through and there's a lynch everyday, and that both ww and mafia survive until the end, the game would then end after D3's lynch, so the werewolf would win. If one kill/lynch doesn't go through, mafia wins, if two don't go through, ww wins again, etc.

Yes. This makes me wonder whether it would be good play for the mafia to forfeit their first kill.

I'm not sure what the rules are if this situation happens:

WW, Mafia, IC alive. Mafia kills IC. Does the mafia win, or does the IC get to shoot? (The question, phrased differently, is: Does the IC's shot happen at the end of the night, or at the start of the Day?)

The vengekill happens before night ends, so the IC shoots in that scenario.  50% chance there for each team.

It's probably better to just kill the other scum, depending on if the BP is still there.  Fighting it out at lylo and having the IC be kingmaker might increase your chances, too.

I like the setup and I liked Blitz last time I played it, but I don't have time right now.

I'm hypothetically interested, but it really depends on when it starts, that first game day in particular I want to have a bunch of free time.

But I could have enough free time in a couple weeks, depending.  So I am probably better as a sub mid-game.
