New Dominion promo card: Walled Village

+1 Card
+2 Actions
---
At the start of Clean-up, if you have this and no more than one other Action card in play, you may put this on top of your deck.

This is cool. "If your Village didn't do anything for you this turn, why not try again next turn?"

Evidence of thriving towns, Pottery, roads, and a centralized government amaze the startled scientists.

Finally, they come upon a stone tablet, which contains but one mysterious phrase!

Cool beans. It's easy to make lots of $4 Village variants even if they're only ever so minimally better than Village, since Village itself is usually worth $4 when it's worth $3 ;)

one of these would be great for putting grand envoy opponent in a bad position... all of a sudden u don't need a tonne of villages to support 2 envoys (asif they needed any help!)

Courtyard just got better - like a non-spammable +actions Haven!
Secret Chamber too - as both reaction and Vault.
Horse Traders and other discard-for-benefit is helped.  Cellar, anyone?

Defends vs. hand-size reducers.  You might not draw the action you wanted, but that's okay if you draw treasure - try again.

Seems like it would help most in games with light trashing, where it lets you keep more treasure than you might otherwise.

I notice it's Cornucopia themed - having a deck full of these is self-defeating.

tl;dr - VERY COOL - How Do I Get IT?

VERY COOL - How Do I Get IT?

According to the Rio Grande web site:

"We have just finished printing a new promo card that is a celebration of the 10 year anniversary of Carcassonne being selected as Spiel des Jahres. We will be offering it at our sales booths at Origins and Gencon and it will later be available through retail stores and BGG. It will also be available soon from our other-language partners."

Just played the first game with it on isotropic. Rabble rabble rabble. It's great in a terminal-only deck. :D

I have noticed in other posts that one type of card people have been asking for is more duration cards.  Though this technically isn't considered a duration card, it certainly has those characteristics.  So even though Donald X has said no more duration cards, we are still getting some cards that feed our interest in durations.  And from Cornucopia, Horse Traders also has Duration characteristics.  :D

On the other hand, this has big time anti-synergy with duration cards.
Overall, I'd rather have any of the other 4-cost variants in most sets. Maybe this>worker's village in some sets.

After playing a couple hands with this card I will weigh in a bit, although I never got it into a natural combo deck where it would be featured.

At first glance it seems like a regular old village in that unless you plan on buying terminals to match it with there is no point in using a buy to gain one.  It would seem to help with terminal draw chain decks a bit more than other Village types.  I fear that it is weaker than Fishing Village in chain decks and probably Mining Village in the absence of other +buy.  It doesn't combo well off of Menagerie, Library or Watchtower so in the presence of these cards it seems to be weaker than Hamlet or Shanty Town of Festival.
It is a good card for turbo-Upgrade/Remake.  Change your extra Silver for a Walled Village and turn that into a good $5 card.

On the whole I suppose it is good to have another Kingdom card that can assist draw chains but until I can find a more specific purpose for this card I will have to say it is usually weaker than the other Village types in most setups with the exception of maybe Shanty Town.

First thought: Ensures 3 actions on your next turn after discarding a Tactician.

It's probably the worst Village so far, but it is still much welcomed, because playing endless games with no +Actions can get boring.

Cool meeple symbol too. I hope I'll be able to find one of those (have all the promos so far, don't intend in stopping now  ;)).

The worse your deck is, the better this card is.  I played a few games where I was drowning in curses, copper, and estates.  Was very nice to keep getting it back until I could get a good hand where I could use it.  Especially with Cellar - draw crap, pitch it, draw more crap - oh well, at least you didn't waste the WV.

Like many other cards, it will be situational when it's bonus is useful.  As has been noted, it's terrible with durations, but could help a lot in a sea hag game.  I can see it helping early actions from colliding, but late game, unless your deck is full of crap, it's not likely to be that useful over a village.

It's marginally better then a village, and the difference between 3 and 4 cost cards is pretty minimal anyway, and it reduces the risk of multiple conflicting terminal actions better then a more vanilla village would.

I will likely get this too, just to have it.
Got me thinking about the other set symbols for the promos. I picked them up recently, so any connection like this one has to Carcassone is not clear to me. Black Market has was looks like a spider web, and Envoy has a ferris wheel looking thing.
Any back history on what these mean?

Walled Village interacts really well with Island. Sometimes I'm wary of buying too many islands since they bump into each other and other Terminals, but Walled Village solves that

Thanks!

I think I have been on that Ferris Wheel. Great views of a beautiful city.

Walled Village works very well in a Torturer chain; if you play it wisely, you'll usually have it with your Torturers.  By the same logic, it should also work well when chaining Goons, Wharves, etc.

As IamOBESE mentioned, it combos very well with Island, since the Island will no longer be in play once you reach the cleanup phase.  By the same logic, it should work well with Feast, Treasure Map, Embargo and Mining Village if you trash it for the 2 coin.  All these but Mining Village are terminal actions.
