An alternative to the other idea(s):

Battle of Wits
Action - $5
Flip your Journey token over (it starts face up). If it's face down, +$2. If it's face up, then:
Each other player secretly flips their Journey token to a side of their choice. For each player, guess whether their token is face down or face up. If you are correct, they gain a Curse.

As described, this is way too weak to cost $5. Maybe $4.

You're probably right.

In terms of the two effects, my thought was that if you're letting people arbitrarily flip their Journey token then you want them to have some reason to prefer one side over the other that may vary per person, and that requires having a face-up and a face-down effect. Knowing that the face-down effect is usually quite weaker, I went for a terminal Silver but I don't know if it's the greatest of options (but then, maybe that's all it needs to be).

In terms of flipping other players' Journey tokens, I also considered something that just straight-out flips all other Journey tokens and giving a Curse for each one face up, but it didn't seem quite as fun (and could lead to the kind of "political" decisions that Dominion is usually free of).

Battle of Wits
Action - Attack 3$
Each player simultaneously secretly flips their journey token to the side of their choice.
If your Journey token is facedown, +2$.
Any other player whose Journey token matches yours gains a Curse.

That is so much cleaner than my version, but it actually highlights that it even feels a little weak at $3 since it's a sometimes-terminal Silver-sometimes-Curser, which compares rather unfavourably to Swindler. Does the face down payoff need to be a little stronger?

I feel like it's actually a neat 1 or 2$ card as is, I just felt a little presumptuous drafting it that way.  You can always make it draw 2 cards instead to make it always relevant no matter what a-la-Moat
