Ferry + boarder village clarification.

So, if the ferry event was used to put the -2 on boarder village, when purchasing a boarder village, you would only be able to gain cards worth 3 on that player's turn correct?

The way I understand, using ferry on boarder village cripples it. A silly move

After a heated discussion and rule perusal, we could find nothing definitive. Thoughts?

A quote from Donald X. about Border Village.

"Originally it cost Coin5.png height=16. I made it better by charging more. There's a trick you can't usually do."

Then he made it possible to make it worse by making a way to make it cost less :P

Point iguana. Not that points really matter with a result, but still.

More important than not being alone in your reading, your interpretation is actually correct. If Border Village costs $4, then gaining it causes you go gain a card costing less than $4.

And of course the opposite works too.  If the Ferry token is on King's Court, you can gain BV-KC.

It always comes down to logically interpreting the card text verbatim, even if it seems counterintuitive. Unless you're playing with Pirate Ship and Guilds cards in the same kingdom....

On the other hand, it'd probably be about equally balanced at $1 as at $6.

I don't think so.  Gaining a Copper is a pretty bad penalty, and $1 actually isn't that far from $3.

Would $1 be too much to pay for a card that was "+2 Actions, +$1"? Border Village for $1 isn't very different from that in its net effect on your deck.
