Band of Misfits as Hireling?

With ferry on the board, you can play band of misfits as hireling. Then Band of Misfits stays out each turn and gives you the extra card.

But what happens if the hireling pile runs out? Hireling is no longer in the supply, so does your band of misfits stop giving you the card, or does it continue to be a hireling because it never left play?

We are currently playing an IRL game with these cards so the answer may well determine who wins this game : P

Point iguana. Not that points really matter with a result, but still.
Igu is town or trying the hardest he ever has as scum.

When you played it, it became a Hireling, which was in the supply at the time.  It never leaves play because it's a Hireling, and it never reverts to BoM because it never leaves play.  Since it isn't repeatedly being turned into a Hireling, it doesn't matter that the supply empties.
