win on turns -

hi,

this is my first dominion league.  today i won a game on a turn tie (http://www.gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?20150606/log.516dbca4e4b082c74d7c7ad0.1433628200513.txt) & my opponent said it counts as a split, which would have me winning our match 3.5-2.5.  is this accurate?  seems like it is strange that a turn win would count the same as a straight tie.

thanks,
tom joads radiator.

It looks like you won! He had one more turn than you, which means that he lost! You won for sure...right?

It took him more turns to get to the same number of victory points that you had gotten in less turns, so it would make sense that you would win...but I do think someone should second that, I'm only a Spy.

You win 100%, it even says in the log:

1st place   tom joads radiator
2nd place   reeeeeeeed

Your opponent is just wrong, the league has no such special rule for this.

The Dominion rulebook says :

Game end
1) Province card pile is empty
or
2) any 3 Supply piles are empty

Players count their victory points. Most victory points wins. Ties go to the player with the fewest turns.

You win.  You took one fewer turn to get your point total.  If you had taken the same number of turns, then (and only then) would it be a tie.

This is the official dominion rule (as liopoil said, nothing special to the league here).

I had forgotten all about that rule (admittedly partly on purpose because I think ties are kinda cool), but anyway, I had one match with three ties in it which may not have been ties if we had remembered this rule.
Doesn't Goko still say 1st place and 2nd place even if it was really a tie? I don't think I remember the online game ever calling a game a tie.

EDIT: Now that I go back and look at the logs, two of them were actually ties, but one of the ties should have counted as a win for twak. stinkin. I guess I should edit my post in the game reports thread?

It says 1st place for both players when it's really a tie.

:D

I think I'm going to come up with some special "league rules" of my own for the last two matches. Let's see whether E and Stef will take the bait.

League games follow all the normal rules of Dominion; if the score screen says that you won, then you won. If it's a tie, the screen will say it's a tie.

(This has all been said above but I thought an official mod statement would be a good idea)

Oh mpsprs has it covered.

Oh cool thanks guys for straightening this out, I was confused because I thought that when the score was even Dominion League counted it as a tie even though I thought of it as a win for the player with fewest turns? Anyway funny story I misreported it as 4 - 2, so... whoops but it's okay, ignore my correction. Sorry about that!
