Ok, so we are full :)

As I'll go on vacation end of April till May 5th, I plan to start the game afterwards. I could however setup the game before, so that you have a week to discuss your first moves and set the first deadline after that.

Any comments on discussion time per turn? In the last game, we had 3 days (a week per year with a day for builds) and some commented that it was a bit too fast. However, towards the end I felt it almost a bit slow because there was not that much to discuss anymore. So currently I would suggest starting with a 4-5 days schedule so approximately 2 years in 3 weeks and perhaps speed up during the midgame. Do you guys prefer deadlines on weekends or during the week?

Edit: also, random nations?

Deadlines whenever work for me, I would definitely like accelerating deadlines as the end of the last game really dragged on IMO. Also I'm fine with random.

I don't care much about when the deadlines are, and random nations is fine.

Also, I'm excited! :)

Well if everyone is fine with random, does that mean that they are fine with me being England and everyone else being random?  ;)

(I'd be fine with random)

4-5 day deadlines seem fine for me at the start. I think discussion about length of phases is fine and it can change during the course of the game if we feel it needs to be changed. Certainly smaller nations can have the game drag on for them if they aren't able to do much.

Notations don't bother me as long as they're clear.

Random nations are fine, although I have a preference not to play as Turkey because I played as Turkey last time. I don't play diplomacy much and would like I experience a different nation if I can.

EDIT: Also if you can set up now that would be awesome, and then have discussion until the deadline. A bit longer first deadline would be nice because this is a variant so it'll take a bit more thinking for me.

Nice! Thanks Hydrad, hope you enjoy!

Yeah I'm cool with whatever, and I'm sure we can adjust deadlines and such as we go. Excited to get my country assignment! I have no idea about this 1900 meta so I'd like some time to think on it.

I don't think i've ever seen pacovf be wrong about a dominion 1900 prediction so it seems like a safe bet.

The joke is that Hydrad has never seen me do a prediction for Diplomacy 1900.

I thought of that just after I posted. Nah, but I'll turn any contry I get into turkey by bee lining straight for Turkish territory.

So I have everything setup, ready to start. If there is no objection, I would open the quicktopics on Monday evening (6pm Pacific Time) and then you'll have a long Spring 1901 until I come back from my vacations.

I toyed around with the export of jDip and merged everything in one figure. Each update will contain three images: the first will show the orders given to the units
(the white margin will contain the orders in text form), the second will show the result of these orders, the third shows a colored map that depicts the "influence" of the nations. The latter is just a gimmick, but it may be nice to see the nations grow and shrink.
There is a vector graphic version, that cannot be incorporated directly into a forum post. Or an image version, with finite resolution.
Any preferences or suggestions for improvements (smaller size, higher/lower resolution, etc.)?

Also, if there are any spectators, please PM me for a link to the spectators thread.

Would it be possible to use A/F for the army fleet symbols rather than those icons? Maybe it's just me, but they look kind of similar and it's more difficult at a glance to tell what's going on, especially for the British troops. If everyone disagrees that's fine.

I also object to waiting all weekend to get my country assignment :P

Well Britain has only fleets, so there's no difference :P

I replaced the second image with the different army symbols, now you can decide which one you prefer.
