iso art on the wiki

Given how much of a nostalgic connection people have for the isotropic card art, I've started a wiki page gallery of it.  Now, I can put up all the art myself, I have that covered, but what I really need help with is tracking down where all of the pictures are from.  What they're photos of, or who drew/painted/smeared them or whatever.  So, go forth, iso fans!  Please?  Halp?

Do you have all the post-Hinterlands art?

I have Dark Ages (sort of) - dougz posted a gallery, but it's all one picture, so I'd have to fiddle around in paint to get everything.  If you happened to have the individual files laying around (and for Guilds and Prince, too), I'd be ever so grateful.

Hm... I'd go get it from Iso, but I have been unable to log in there for a few weeks.  May have to wait on Doug/Donald to reply here.

That's what I've been using, but 1) That's tedious for one person to do and 2) Some pictures don't show up, like Moat and Woodcutter.

Moat is this:

You can do reverse image search on google. If you use chrome, its extra easy: right click -> search google for this image.

I tried that with Moat, and nothing came up!  Do you know what that's a picture *of*, though?

Also, if it is one picture, send it here, I can write a scripty-script to crop it in multiples.

http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?topic=7123.msg200381#msg200381

Here is the imagemagick script:
Code: [Select]
convert darkages.jpg -crop 5x11@ +repage +adjoin single_card.jpg
mogrify -crop 120x72+2+2 single_card*.jpg

replace darkages.jpg with your imagename.

Here are the resulting images:

Tactician is obviously Napoleon Crossing the Alps.
Menagerie is from a Barnum & Bailey poster.
Embargo is a MTG card.
Sea Hag is the sea hag from Popeye.

By the glance, Squire is also MTG card of the same name, and most of Dames and Sirs are by Boris Vallejo ( *puking smiley*).

I am kinda bored, and like actually googling art, so here it goes:

Crossroads - well, I cannot determine the author or the real location of the picture; but, the picture is ALWAYS followed by a story about how Robert Johnson sold his soul at the crossroads; so I believe it's most likely taken in Mississipi, probably Rosedale.

Duchess is an Alice in Wonderland book illustration by John Tanniel.

Fool's Gold - no idea.

Develop comes from here: http://www.pitt.edu/~caram/plans.htm

Oasis - is a picture Oasis in the Libyan part of the Sahara Desert, by wikipedia user Sfivat.

Oracle - Delphic Oracle by Heinrich Leutemann.

Tunnel -  I think its a picture of a tunnel at Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve. But it's really hard to differ it from others.

Nomad Camp - I've found a bigger picture ( http://www.michelledastier.com/sortir-de-la-zone-de-confort-par-daniella-phamphile/ ) but still no idea.

Silk Road - It's an album cover of some japanese musician.. www.amazon.co.jp/NHK特集「シルクロード」オリジナル・サウンドトラック-シルクロード~絲綢之路II~-喜多郎/dp/B00006G8VW

Spice Merchant / Trader - ughh... found matching pictures, but can't determine origin.

Cache - no idea whatsoever.

Cartographer - The Geographer by Johannes Vermeer.

Highroad - Appian Way in Rome.

Ill-Gotten Gains - Treasure recovered from wreck of "Nuestra Seņora de las Mercedes" (Spanish Navy frigate, sunk 1804)

Inn - is Abigail's Hotel, located in Victoria, B.C. (Canada).  (Picture possibly taken by Leslie Forsberg. ?? http://www.goworldtravel.com/travel-british-columbia-victoria-branching-out-from-its-empire-roots/ )

Mandarin - It's a cigarette card. You are supposted to find his hat on the image. Created by Major Drapkin & Co in 1926. http://www.planetperplex.com/en/item/mandarin/

Margrave - It's Charles William Frederick, Margrave of Brandenburg-Ansbach (in Prussia, I believe). I do not think the author of the portrait is known.

Stables - those are stables at Kenilworth Castle, Warwickshire, England.

Border Village - its Tmogvi, a ruined fortress in the southern Georgian region of Samtskhe-Javakheti.

Farmland - its Longsheng Rice Terraces in Guangxi.

Wow, some of these have pretty nice stories behind them :)

(this is whole hinterlands).

So I know the image for Possession is a painting, but Google Image search can't seem to find it, and I can't remember its name.

It's funny that this was the card art I knew for almost all of the cards.  The first time I saw the real art for anything outside of Base, Seaside, or Intrigue was on Goko.
