Possession luck?

Okay, I just finished a game and I must ask - Did I make a mistake somewhere or was it just very unlucky?

http://dominion.isotropic.org/gamelog/201112/24/game-20111224-163137-941711ba.html

I went for Pawn/Gardens combo with a little help from Apothecary (never even played it) and Contraband, hoping my deck would be so full of crap (I bought a Copper everytime I could and always chose "+buy" with Pawn) that Possessing me won't get my opponent anything...but it gave him a second Possession and 2 Duchies!

What do you think?

If your aim are Gardens here, why two Potions? For one Apothecary and one Golem both which you didn't play a single time? Without the Potion, your opponent couldn't have bought a Possession with your cards, and you could have had, say, additional two Gardens and one or two Duchies, netting you a clear win.

I can see a few mistakes:

   — DrHades's turn 12 —
   DrHades plays a Contraband.
... -dg- prohibits DrHades from buying Gardens.
DrHades plays a Copper and a Silver.
   DrHades buys a Gold.
   DrHades buys a Copper.
   (DrHades reshuffles.)
Buy farmland, remodel estate into the last Garden.?

— DrHades's turn 13 —
   DrHades plays 4 Coppers.
   DrHades buys a Potion.

No sure about this?

  — DrHades's turn 17 —
   DrHades plays a Pawn.
   ... getting +1 buy and +$1.
DrHades plays a Copper, a Potion, and a Silver.
   DrHades buys a Golem.
   DrHades buys a Copper.
(DrHades draws: a Copper, a Pawn, 2 Gardens, and a Contraband.)
This should be a double Estate buy, you are never going to get to play Golem.

18P
  — DrHades's turn (possessed by -dg-) —
   DrHades plays a Pawn.
   ... getting +1 buy and +$1.
   DrHades plays a Contraband.
... -dg- prohibits DrHades from buying Golems.
   DrHades plays a Copper.
   DrHades buys a Duchy.
   ... -dg- gains the Duchy.

Should veto duchy

Edit: Thanks deadlock, sorry this is wrong, man I hate possession.

All of the above is good advice. But also, this is just not a great board for gardens. If your opponent goes some kind of conspirator stuff, possibly with apothecary/golem help, I expect he'll massively outrace you.

The last bit of advice is invalid because when possessed, the possessor gets to choose the card (-dg- prohibits DrHades from buying Golems.), not the possessed.

Whov...second Potion...it was:

a) a missclick and I wanted Silver
b) a rage after beeing possessed

Don't forget that I should have bought Possession with the first potion or actually use the Apothecary if I drew it in better time then the one I did  :(

1. Very interesting idea! Didn't even think about this option...probably better then Gold...
2. Above...
3. This was another rage mistake - I didn't check how long will the game last...
4. Deadlock39 is right, opponent prohibits himself to buying something.

All of the above is good advice. But also, this is just not a great board for gardens. If your opponent goes some kind of conspirator stuff, possibly with apothecary/golem help, I expect he'll massively outrace you.

Probably true, but I just wanted to try using Contraband on a board, where it shines :)

Thanks everyone for advices! And sorry for this "oooh I am so unlucky  :'( :'( :'(" post, I was furious  ;D
