strange ratings

I don't quite understand the differences between the goko Ratings and the isotropic Level of some players. Normally one is relating to the other. Lets say 4000 points and a Level of about plus 5 or so. But can someone explain how it is possible that someone has a rating of about 4300 points and a Level of 42?? On the other hand there are players with 5000 and more Rating points and a Level of -27. These are the extrems, but I don't get the idea how this is possible.

If you win a lot of games and then don't play for a while, your Goko ratings drop but your Iso rating stays high.

Goko ratings:

- Include games against bots I think
- Decay quickly with inactivity
- Move up and down extremely fast sometimes.

Isotropish ratings:

- Don't

Isotropish also includes games against bots. However, it ignores all 3+ players games.

The gap is especially true for new players (by which I mean people who have played not many Pro games), who have high uncertainty:

Iso level sees you have a high uncertainty, and so gives you a low level (as Iso level is given by "Skill level-Uncertainty level" and the uncertainty level is high)
Goko level kind of looks at the range of ratings you could be, and picks an average sort of rating (i.e. it thinks you might be between 3000 and 6000 pro level, based on your current matches, and so gives you 4500).

Here is AI's description of the difference: https://github.com/aiannacc/Goko-Salvager/wiki/Rating-Systems

This is only sort of true. Goko rating is just trueskill with different parameters and the displayed rating is mu-2*sigma. See here: http://forum.dominionstrategy.com/index.php?topic=10884.msg367431#msg367431

Also, if the player has changed their name, their iso levels don't reflect correctly in salvager. You'd have to look them up on the isotropish leaderboard.

This is the main cause of really funky things like 5000/-27

Iso is bugged and unreliable. My Iso rating is "?", and has been like that for a while.
