Awesome Games Done Quick 2015

Games Done Quick is a bi-annual charity gaming marathon. Volunteers play games at incredible speed ("Speedrunning") for entertianment. The event is streamed live online, non-stop, and all donations go directly to the charity. This is the winter event, with a summer event starting around July.

AGDQ this year started a few hours ago (as of the time of posting) and is continuing until the 11th, raising money for the Prevent Cancer Foundation. You can find the stream here

If you're into gaming, I recommend checking it out, as I do most years. I've enjoyed the DK Tropical Freeze run and am looking forward to the Banjo Kazooie run, starting soon after I make this post. And there's a lot of other good games on the schedule.

...spin-offs are still better for all of the previously cited reasons.
But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.

I thought it was Vykan FE10/Gwimpage FE9 donation war? Doesn't really matter, both would be great although FE10 is a fantastic speedrun, so there's that.

Gwimpage is playing either one, whichever wins.

Yeah, that must have changed more recently, probably between 2nd and final schedule draft (which is about the last time I'd checked the schedule). I've spoken to Gwimpage about the run... and how it's likely to take Serenesforest down, as AGDQ tends to do to smaller sites.

Missed this thread and also missed most of AGDQ despite marking it in my calender. I caught some yesterday and hopefully I can catch some of the Zelda block tonight when I get home.

For past broadcasts, I recommend:

- any game you personally like, if you can find it on the schedule
- TASbot
- Battleblock Theater (pretty long, maybe watch just the last 30 min or so. They had the game devs on Skype and were cracking jokes the whole time)
- Gimmick
- Die Hard
- I Wanna Be The Boshy
- Kaizo Mario World (really, all of the Mario block was good, but I think this was the best)
- Tetris the Grandmaster exhibition
- Super Monkey Ball
- Town With No Name (if you haven't seen this game before, it's great. If you have, maybe not as much mileage since you'll know what the cutscenes are)
- Yoshi's Island (there are some levels done blindfolded at the end of the standard speedrun)
- Portal 2 players 1 computer

Actually that portal run is exactly how my sister and I played portal for the first time. They beat our time though.

A lot of the highlights are on their YouTube account (GDQArchive). I've been watching a bunch of them in the past couple of days.
