Man remember back in the with Red and Blue when the strategy for Pokemon was "use psychic"

Wasn't it "use Psychic and Normal type Pokemon"?

But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.

Use Normal, and use Psychic if opponent type equals "Rock" OR "Ghost"

Basically.

I remember it being "Go Lv. 255 Golbat with maxed stats! Use substitute! Use hyper beam!" or something like that.

Wait a second, I'm not sure I get this one.  I thought this was Young Witch at first, as a riff on Ash being a supernatural eternal youth, but then I realized that it's Fairgrounds.

(Edit: Wait, it's not Fairgrounds either.  What was this card again? ???)

(Edit 2: Wait, it is Fairgrounds!  But the online art is brighter.)

In any case, I just realized that Young Witch could probably be a reasonable proxy for Disaster Girl.

Oh, and also, that Wonderwall meme is brought to you by

This is a pretty straightforward joke about the ethos of Pokemon, and has everything to do with what Fairgrounds actually does.

You had Young Witch on the brain and you were distracted by how awful the first Google Images hit for Dominion Fairgrounds looked.

My understanding was that Gravity is not a popular field effect at all, and I question the use of a SpAtk on Ferrothorn.  But I don't know, I guess Doubles is a funky place.

For a second I thought we were talking about physics...

Young Witch has a rat on her shoulder!? Thank you, eHalcyon, for helping me discover this. Also, the pic with Young Witch and the E-E-E-S-Moneylender deserves all the +1s.

You should be throwing a Pokeball.

You should be throwing a Pokeball.
You'll want to weaken it first, though. Maybe put it to sleep too.

So basically it's Too Many Cooks: Gameboy Edition.

Too many Bidoofs

But they fill our balls with so much... um... never mind.

Very old joke from the awesome "song parodies" thread (changed the lyrics a bit):

Fairgrounds rush song (Pokémon main theme).

I'm gonna play my Tournament,
i don't care 'bout your hand.
I just want a prize so bad.
And if it's Diadem.

So let's go see Black Market now.
and buy some worthless junk.
My different cards are fourty-six.
No close to being enough.

Fairgrounds rush!
Ohh - my deck is spoiled.
For you there were Ruins sold.
Fairgrounds rush!
Ohh - you're my best bet.
My Madman i can't play.
Fairgrounds rush!
Ohh - that Curse works out.
I'll even pay 5$ for Scout.

You gain Gold, i gain threefold.
Fairgrounds rush!
Gonna gain 'em all!
Gonna gain 'em all!
Fairgrounds rush!

If I had decided to take more time, I would have put little Pokemon faces on all the knights in the foreground.
