With Bridge in play, that engine player has enough to buy a Province.  Intentional?

Yeah with bridges and an attack to slow down the big money player, the engine is likely viable here. If there's a little trashing, then it's very viable.

Shouldn't he be able to play his torturer that he just developed? Imagine doing militia than torturer... suddenly no more province =)

Nope, I don't think he has any actions left to play it with.

I missed the torturer. Yeah with that on the board, the engine player is going to crush BM. Though really you should probably be taking torturers over the embassy in the first place.

Just for the record:

1.  I didn't think that hard about that meme

2.  Largely because I didn't expect anyone else to think that hard about it either.

3.  Engine might beat BM+ on that board, when played well, but nobody has ever definitively proved that Leo plays Dominion well.

4.  The point of the meme wasn't supposed to be that simple strategies beat complex strategies, but to capture that feeling you get when you've played a whole bunch of cards in your turn but it ended up as something of a damp squib,  then your opponent has a much simpler turn that is ultimately more successful.  I'm sure we have all been on both ends of that one.

I just thought it was funny that someone used a huge example in the Inception meme, then others piled on to state in simple terms why it was wrong.  I couldn't resist taking it one level deeper.

I did actually have someone recently offer to swindle my mountebank into a mountebank on turn 5. I told them to just play normally, they swindled it into a Duchy, and in the end I ended up winning the game anyway. That felt pretty nice.
