Hello.  Name's Bruce.  It's all right.  I understand.  Why trust a shark, right?

Is quite curious - Who is the mystical "Celestial Chameleon"?

It's a pity that neither of them link that well to it thematically (unless what you sacrifice on the ... no, let's not go there).

*Death Cart and Altar are both Feast variants*

Eh, I don't think I agree with that.
Altar gains up to $5, but it is also a trasher and is not a one-shot.  Do you consider University to be a Feast variant, since it also gains $5 cards?  Eh, I guess I can see it as a Feast variant, though it's a stretch.  However, I don't see DC fitting in at all.  DC gives virtual coin, which I think is very different from gaining a card.

Altar, Death Cart and Feast all require you to trash a card to get $5 of value.  The details of course make them feel very different.

I tend to consider Pillage as a Feast variant; the Spoils produce $6 of value later.

That'll only work with Throne Room.

And you'll draw an additional card with Herald, so either another action to throne, or a less painful card to pass over with ambassador (or another colony  :) )

I was referencing the hand including the card draw from Herald.

Should've been 4 Colonies then  :)

Two turns ago, Leo used a Spy leaving a Colony on top, then Ghost Ship. His opponent had Colony/Colony/Colony/Herald/Ambassador, so he put the Herald and the Ambassador back on top to potentially improve his next turn. Then Leo played an Oracle, but he left those two cards there because they are relatively useless in a deck full of valuable green cards. Finally, Leo played Kings Court->Bureaucrat, forcing his opponent to place the three Colonies on his deck. Therefore, Leo now knows that in two turns' time, his opponent will have the same Colony/Colony/Colony/Herald/Ambassador hand, and the first card the Herald draws will be a Colony.

I am sure that some variation of this leaves an Oasis in his opponent's hand to discard one of the Colonies first.

Oh.  I thought maybe he'd just played a Cutpurse.

Actually, he's just looking at the mirror behind his opponent.

Oh.  I thought maybe he'd just played a Cutpurse.

That doesn't sound like one of Leo's turns...

I think he is playing a Bureaucrat pin so he can get enough points from his Monuments, but it took him so long to set it up that his opponent has 7 Colonies, 7 Provinces, 7 Duchies, 7 Estates, and 8 Silk Roads, and can win just by buying out the Curses and the Copper.

In reply to the GGG meme:  I've done that before to end the game quicker...  (not giving them it, of course, but revealing it and returning none to the supply)

why bother playing herald then? there's a risk that you draw another throne room instead of another colony, so you have to give them 4. Plus, winning by 21 points is better that winning by 1 point.
