Fool's Gold could be worth it for the reaction, or for a one-time $5 with Counterfeit.

You just got edge/cased.

Also, of course, Fairgrounds.

Alternate VP cards like Duke, yes, but I think Fairgrounds is an exception.  It might be worth more than a Province if you've been buying from the BM.

I think the worst-relative-to-normal-buy is TMap, Peddler, then FG/Duke.

I rather meant, if you're collecting Fairgrounds, you might want to buy anything you can from the Black Market - particularly at $2.

That's true.If it was on gain, buy farmland, trash fortress (put fortress in hand) gain farmland, trash fortress (put fortress in hand) gain farmland, trash fortress etc.

I thought it was to prevent abuses if Gold were swindled into a Farmland (what a nightmare...) and forcing the attacked player to remodel a card. But it's true it seemed me weird, why not on gain, because remodeling several $4 into farmlands this way would have been uncommon... before Fortress !
I wish the on-gain part were : "When you gain this and didn't gain another farmland immediately, you may trash a card from your hand. If you do, gain a card costing up to $2 more than the trashed card".

And then, two another ones :

Why did I hide the name of card, which is Mint ? Don't care. But I have something to tell you ?

I'm sorry, I'm soooo sorry !!! And yes I love oldies much more than actual video games ! (Final Fantasy up to 10 :p <3)

Chocolate is like victory points in Dominion. Both taste good but they'll hurt you if you eat too much of it instead of something else in your early days.

As far as I can tell, there is not yet a meme of Thief, interacting with the trash before it was cool. Can someone make it?

...spin-offs are still better for all of the previously cited reasons.
But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.

OBJECTION! It was never cool!
This reminds me of a quote from a Simpsons clip show.

"What two popular Simpsons characters were killed off this season? If you answered Dr. Marvin Monroe and Bleeding Gums Murphy, you're WRONG - they were NEVER popular!"

My exact wording's probably slightly off.

It so happens, I bought exactly 1 Fool's Gold in a game I played today.  The reason was that it was a game with Tournament and Tactician, so I designed a deck that I could draw entirely and then have exactly 8$.  Tournament was one of the cards I counted for this, but then my opponent got an early Province, and used it to stuff a Tournament on my Tactician turn, leaving me with 7$.  I bought Hunting Party/Fool's Gold, because Fool's Gold is strictly better than copper and I wanted to be able to cycle quickly so I didn't want to buy Gold.

Then his Province lined up with his Tournament, and all this scheming didn't matter much.

Hunting Party + Copper might be better to keep variety down, especially because Tournament prizes make Hunting Party less reliable. I think it's pretty close though.
