Gandalf isn't really dead! :o

That is soooo obvious the second you read it...
Edit: Not sure about the movies when you don't know the books. But in the book it is so clear that he is an important and developed character which would be an absolute waste to let die at this point.
Edit2: What nevertheless was not clear at all for me for some pages is that it's really him when he returns.

Yeah, I saw the movie before I'd read the books (read all 3 before Two Towers came out though), and I never thought for a minute that Gandalf was dead, mostly because of what a major character he was in both the Hobbit and LOTR.

Back to memes, which after my brief stint as best dominion player in the world *cough* is how I'm now feeling.

I don't really think I am or was the best dominion player in the world. I'm pretty average really, about level 30 on Iso

Rosebud is the sled.

King Kong dies at the end.

The kid is the evil honcho in the future.

Bella gains telepathy.

He sees dead people.

Not even kidding, I only know #5.  #2 must be one of the King Kong movies, but I don't know if it is referencing a particular one because I've never seen them.

(edit: thinking more, is #3 Star Wars Episode 1?)

(edit: thinking more, is #3 Star Wars Episode 1?)
I can't, offhand, think of another movie that fits better, but I wouldn't exactly call that a "spoiler." It's more like a "thing you absolutely have to know going in, or there's nothing interesting about the movie."

It's a movie that came out this year.  I'd say its hardly a spoiler.

The top isn't Cobb's totem - it's Mal's.  Cobb's totem is his wedding ring.  So whether or not the top fell over is irrelevant.

Not completely true. Real world physics dictate the top falls. If it does not, we know he is dreaming still. If it does fall, well, we know nothing. Since we don't know if the top fell, we know nothing.

I missed this episode of Firefly apparently.

If you read The Hobbit first you wouldn't think Gandalf was really that strong, and you wouldn't put it past tolkien to get rid of the last character from that story after leaving bilbo behind.

If you read The Hobbit first, you'd never think the Ring was an Evil Device used to control the world that had to be destroyed in a volcano. Just a magic ring with a super nifty ability and no drawbacks. Then you read the LotR-trilogy and you can't even put it on without being noticed by some creepy eye in a tower.

Well, if I recall correctly, even in the beginning, the power of the ring wasn't known.
Gandalf spent several years coming to the shire and leaving again, diving into all kinds of books, until he founds out.

Of course, he immediately recognizes it in the movie.

And when Bilbo used it as a "party trick" (my book knowledge is inadvertently mixed with movie knowledge, so sorry if I get things mixed up) and I don't think he was spotted by evil then. If so, he might have mentioned it to Frodo: "Here's this ring, but if you put it on, you see these creepy zombie kings of old."

With regards to my original spoiler: I know that the movie is old, but as he didn't seem to recognize Alan Rickman I wasn't sure whether he's seen it and didn't want to spoil the "big reveal". :)

Some movies are more spoiler dependent than others though.

But hey, here's another: In the last season of Lost, they didn't successfully fix the timeline and live happy ever after, they're in some sort of purgatory/heaven

Lost apologist here. There was nothing to "fix" in the timeline. They couldn't change anything via time travel.

Buffy kills Edward.
Snape and Gandalf are half-brothers.
Wesley Crusher was a Cylon.
DougZ is Batman.
Jesus dies.
Yes, the hero gets the MacGuffin and the girl at the end, and the bad guy gets killed.  This applies to every action movie ever.
Fifty Shades is unadulterated sh*tty porn, and its creator is a blight on the English language and humanity in general.
