Was a really hard board, also interesting in that I think the best prizes were in nearly the reverse order to usual:
Princess > Diadem > Trusty Steed > Bag of Gold > Followers.

He went completely bonkers for a lot of fantasy football teams over the weekend with a "nobody's done THAT in a very long time" point total.

I had a dream where I hit 40.  Then I woke up and it wasn't true :(

That's funny, I had a dream where I was lvl 73 or something and no one was in my range.
I guess there's always something left to dream about. :)

Congrats. Over the past week I have begun to believe for the first time that I can make it to 40. I hit 38 a few days ago. Both 2 days ago and yesterday I had a good win-rate against pretty high-level people on average, (including beating Rabid!) which I thought for sure would push me to 39... but nope, still 38. :(

Heh, I went 7-3 yesterday, beating a few higher level opponents, and my rank only dropped.  I'm actually satisfied at ever reaching level 40 and don't care much anymore, but sometimes I'm puzzled by TrueSkill's wiles.

That's my thought too... if I hit 40, I'll probably stop caring about ranking. I know I'm not nearly good enough to compete with the 50s, and I don't quite want to invest the time it would take to get there. Just finished going about 4-5 for the day. :-\

I think the system's calculations are just lagging (significantly, like maybe 24hr+) behind game results.

I'm pretty sure 40 is my ceiling and very happy with it. I mean, there are ~8000 registered users on the leaderboard - all active since Iso removes inactive accounts - and being in the top 50 or so is quite an achievement for me.

What makes getting a high ranking even harder is the fact that you have to sidestep so many mine fields. I mean, I accept pretty much any registered match and even lvl 1's can beat me if they open 5/2 Witch over my measly 4/3.

And then there are diminishing returns. Going from lvl 1 to lvl 10 is super easy, from 10 to 20 so-so, from 20 to 30 you need to at least know which cards might be good, from 30-40 increasingly difficult and so on. And because the higher you get, the more opponents are below you, the more difficult it gets to increase your lvl.

Since I had a good run yesterday I'm even at lvl 41 now, woohoo!!

And just in time, too. I don't think I will be playing on Goko much when it goes live, so at least I've had a good run.  ;D

You know, I don't think you and I have ever played a game... weird. Anyway, I've won several games today against players in the 40s, so I'm really hoping that tomorrow I'll be one step closer!

I'm also kinda confused by my recent adventures with ranking.  I'm up to a career-high 22, even though I don't think I'm winning any more than usual and if anything I'm probably playing less!

I remember I lost my Lv. 40 game the first time to Jlock and spent a good deal of time at 38/39.  It feels good when you actually make it there.  Best of luck in you next games!  May your Sea Hag hit you opponents and may you never get a turn 5 $2P!
