... After playing my first Horn he sees I can probably pile out Provinces and he says "gg" to me, to which I reply that I'm $1 short of ending the game this turn and I was calculating what I should do about it.

He points out to me that I could have just Counterfeited a Horn and that I should resign the game out of shame.

He was wrong. He should resign the next two games you guys play out of shame.

You had exactly 8 uniques in play, including Horn of Plenty. If you trash the horn for a province, the second time you play it you have only 7 unique cards in play

Except that he had 7 horns so he would still have 8 uniques in play.

Nick won the game. I think his comment went exactly as planned.

Regardless, we both laughed for a long time after I resigned the game. It was totally worth it. The fact that I got bamboozled means we'll laugh even more.

I think the point is that he would still play the first Horn for not-a-Victory-card, but then Counterfeit the next Horn?

EDIT:  Oh, I see.  The first Horn could've been a Province anyway... It would take more than one Counterfeit to do what I just suggested for a net gain.

Donald, I hope this is an acceptable use of your image.

Can we get a thread lock? It's only going to get worse from here.
Still hasn't beat the op.

It looks like it has now!

I'd like to thank Donald X for making all this possible.  Couldn't have done it without you, man.

For Halloween? .... You mean walk around with a cardboard cutout around you that has the "Stache" card frame?

Because I'll will be very disappointed if you don't actually grow that mustache for every-day purposes.

Does it go to the bottom of your deck even if it is in your hand? I think the way worded now, yes.

No, because it's worded the same as Stash. If you were completely literal in the reading of Stash, it also fails to say "if this is in your discard pile", but it's clear that that's what it means. As I mentioned in some other thread recently; a completely literal reading of Stash would allow you to just take them from the supply whenever you shuffle.

While the Stash ruling applies to the Supply out of necessity (otherwise you can just gain all of them at once for free), it does not work as precedent for moving from hand.  Stash says "you may", which means that it doesn't automatically get pulled out of your hand.  The question is, can you choose to move them out of your hand and into your deck when you reshuffle?  You may want to when playing a draw-to-X card.  I don't think the FAQ covers this, actually.  The answer to that determines the answer to whether Staches in hand get pulled into the deck when you reshuffle.

This FAQ covers it, with a link to a post from Donald about it: http://boardgamegeek.com/wiki/page/Complete_and_All-Encompassing_Dominion_FAQ

Congrats on me finishing all 151 pages of this awesome thread.

Also i'm definitely not the first one to notice that, but didn't find any mention in this thread so...

Yeah! Transmute can give you Gold, Duchies, or more Transmutes. Stupid Chapel doesn't give you ANYTHING when it trashes cards!

But you can use a Bomb on Chapel to get rid of it!

I'm not sure that's intentional, because every set has a curser, and a trasher, and a gainer, and the costs for those effects are going to line up because that's what need to be for balance. Still cool though.

Every set also has a Lab variant. The costs for those effects are $4-$6 ($4 being Caravan and Advisor, $6 being Nobles).
