I don't think I've even played hundreds of games yet...

you could crank'em out faster in the old days
True, but I'm not going to count the games that lacked an opponent. (Most of my iso games were solo tests for IRL games)

this is when I showed someone that Rats + Watchtower = Best trasher ever. He/she was surprised in the chat.
yes, rats+watchtower is amazing.  (nearly) +2 cards, +1 action, trash a card in hand.  amazing.

Hmm, is a t4 plat worth having 6 silvers in your deck? I'm leaning towards yes, but I'm not sure.

Just 5 Silvers, you can trash the 6th with WT.

Yeah.  I just tried this whole "silver is a really good card" thing yesterday in a colony game.

Spoiler: It did not work.

Be warned Adam:  I have now learned my lesson and will be buying no silver in our match.  You are doomed.

I'm not convinced. Many people in the forums make jokes about Embassy being an attack. While I don't think that's entirely fair, there is certainly a basis in reality behind those jokes. Silver is only useful for bootstrapping to better things, especially in Colony games. You only need 1 or 2 for that; any more and they just get in the way.

silver is good in most province games, it's bad in most colony games.

What do you think about that play to get a t4 Plat?

I think this is way too much of a blanket statement. I think silverspawn's statement is closer to the truth.

Silver is usually a pretty poor buy, even in Province games. However, that is not the same as it being a poor card to have in your deck. Getting handed free Silver is usually great, as long as you're willing to build your deck to accommodate it. Getting "cheap" Silver, through things like Jack of all Trades and Masterpiece, also makes Silver a better value proposition.

I'm going to estimate that buying 3 or more treasure cards is a mistake in over 50% of kingdoms.

Sure, that is more what I meant.  The scenario under discussion is a Colony game.

If you play BM on the kingdom, it's very good. silver is not that bad in platinum games. 15$ in 6 cards is plenty.

Yeah, obviously Silver is way worse with Colony. No argument there. If you're playing a Bank or Counting House strategy it can be OK, but mostly it's bad.

You can't say that "Silver is a good card in X games", because it's a good card in the early game in all games and becomes junk in the late game in most games. Often the correct play is to buy some Silvers early and trash them later. When you're thinking of buying a Silver, you have to take into account how much it boosts your deckbuilding speed early, and how much of a problem it's going to be later, and is there a way to get rid of it without losing too much momentum.

I see your point about having so many silvers in a colony game.  In the game i mentioned where i got 6 silvers on turn 3 and platinum on turn 4, i kept gaining silvers and just drained provinces and before the opponent could get massive engine up and running. It seemed to work out pretty well.

My last Dominion related moment of the kind described in the OP was just today. Sudgy asked whether you could resolve Prince's card between two plays of a Throned duration card, and it seems you can. Would never have guessed that.

Apart from that, i am disturbed that after frequenting these forums for years i just recently noticed that you can look for new replies to your posts. How do i even manage to use soap?

I actually had something relevant happen to me the other day, though it's kind of the converse to the title. It turns out that if you draw a Moat when you get Margraved, you can't reveal it to block the rest of the attack. Slightly disappointing, but I guess it makes sense.

You reveal Moat when the other player plays an attack, before you even begin to resolve the attack.  If you've drawn a card, you're already in the middle of resolving the attack and are past the point when you can reveal Moat.

Today I discovered Bishop/Fortress. In a game with Processions, Talismans, and Cities. No one else saw the combo. You do the math. 8)

What were the other 5 cards? It's possible the game ends before you do much bishop/fortress-ing.
