You learn to tolerate it when you live there, but yes, people try to avoid being outside from 12 to 4. Sevilla (hottest city in Spain) usually reaches the low 40s at the beginning of August, and Granada (where they are going) is usually a bit below that. But it's not common at all to expect these sort of temperatures in early July. This looks like it's going to be a hot summer.

I have no idea how greenhouse farmers survive through the summer.

This week I seem to have an interesting choice each night:

Go to bed with the windows open, and be nice and cool and unable to breath properly because of hay fever; or go to bed with the windows closed and suffer 30 degrees plus temperature in the middle of the night.

I'm so tired this week, even when I go to bed early.

But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.

I have allergies. While drugs make it better, it doesn't make them go away completely. And I know people who are worse off than I am.

I'm so soft. I don't think I could ever live without air conditioning. I also don't want to live in a place that doesn't have a washer/dryer hookup.

In short, I'm one of the first ones dead in an apocalypse.

I was just reading an article on why capitalism is bad, and this was one of the major points. I think capitalism is great, I just found it funny that someone mentions this as I'm reading it.

I certainly wouldn't blame capitalism. It may have helped me become who I am, but I really only have myself to blame for not choosing to take a harder road. So please no apocalypse until after I'm dead.

Even ignoring comforts, I'm dead in an apocalypse--dependent on medication for survival.  Might as well be comfortable until an apocalypse actually hits.

Probably should get some antihistamines. It's usually not that bad though, and we do seem to be past the worst of it, but if I remember I should pick some up.

ACs are pretty rare in homes in the UK, at least as far as I've ever seen.

Whenever I press the split button, it sends the bare minimum. How am I supposed to eat people if I'm that small?

Eat little pieces of food to get bigger.  When you're big and split, you just split in half.

I am very sad and feeling very old.  I just found out that Chris Squire died a few days ago.  Such a giant, physically and musically.

I've played 40 minutes. It seems kind of pointless.

Damn, I was really hoping to win this one. Now I have to be assigned to Antarctica to win the next round :'(

I tried playing this game. I really did. I gave it a fair try. And I was winning too. But in my moment of triumph, my winning streak blew up in my face. And I didn't want to go through the trouble of building another winning streak like last time, so...

Dunno if anyone follows the mainstream videogame scene. I don't really do it anymore because of reasons, but I've kept watching the reviews by Yahtzee because I find them particularly funny. This one in particular goes over the latest E3.

Warning: extreme levels of profanity. Don't watch if that is something that offends you.

In unrelated news, my parents are going South for the weekend. They expect temperatures of 44ºC during the day. That's just ridiculous for the beginning of July.

That's ridiculous for any time of the year.  Like, that's literally a temperature that most humans can't actually deal with.
That is way hot.  I've only experienced as high as 41.6 C (117 F), several times in Las Vegas.
41.6˚ C is actually only 107˚ F (sorry for being pedantic).

Correcting mathematical errors is never pedantic.  Nice catch - I shouldn't do math in my head.  The 117 F is correct, and I should have said 47.2 degrees C.
