I wonder if the "amended" post counts that are today's April Fools joke are generated randomly, or from an algorithm based on correct post count.

+1 available for first documented correct answer.

The change is simply that posts in the Forum Games subforum are counted.
Too slow! No +1 for you, the +1 is MINE!

Anyone who makes a joke about a dominion card I may have accidentally referenced or misspelled will NOT receive any +1s.

That must be why I didn't notice a difference.

Yeah. The Mafia players benefit most, shooting to the top. I haven't done badly myself, 7124 posts (at time of posting), the majority being in Non-Mafia games (4267 of them, to be precise).

But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.

Your post is misleading because you acknowledge Ozle's algorithm.  One should never acknowledge Ozle's algorithms.

I'm curious how many forum games posts I have.  I haven't played Mafia in ages.  Current post count is 9737...

Holy crap, I'm actually in the Top 10.  I think I've been playing way too much Mafia.

I suspect this is the correct answer, and it SOUNDS documented.

By the power vested in me by the state of affairs, I hereby award you the aforementioned, pre-specified, promised, talked about, and highly coveted +1.  Let it be written, let it be done.

Clarity is highly overrated, except when scuba diving.  Especially in a moat.

Here's a really cool game I think a lot of people here would like: http://sineridergame.com/.

Basically, in each level, you're given a set of targets you need to pass through, and your goal is to make an equation for a graph such that when you are subjected to gravity, your dude will pass through the targets.  You can't control the dude except by writing the equation for the graph, so he'll just fall down on top of the graph and go (I don't know if I'm explaining this very well...).  You can also make the graph change over time (the equation is in the format y=f(x,t) for some function f).

My main complaint about it is that the collision detection seems kind of wonky (I'm not sure how they could fix that though, given how flexible the graphing capabilities are), and sometimes that messes up what you know should be a legitimate solution.  But it's a pretty cool game, and I also think it has a lot of educational potential to teach kids about graphing.

I played some of Sine Rider a short time ago. I intended to show it to some of the maths teachers at the school I work at, although never quite got around to it. It does look good from an education standpoint, although it has a few slight issues there (inflexibility in the order you do things mainly).

I just played it recently!  I did everything but the later Convergence levels.  I couldn't figure those out.

The best thing about the collision detection is asymptotes.  They're so wonky.  Just put in tan(x) as your function and you'll see what I mean.

I think mine was when I stepped into a (serious) thread, didn't read it, made a completely serious reply, and managed to get message of the week from it.

Well, it's that or a post I made from an alt account. Probably the latter actually.

Edit: It's the latter. Sigh.

Good, that first one is so dull.

Glad this got linked; I +1'd the second one.  Only skimmed the first one.

Can we just kill the random thread now and actually start new topics for things?
Would generate more quality posts!

This would be a group effort. Don't post to the random thread anymore. This would apply to everyone. But people would invariably post to it at some point, so the basic solution is to lock it.

I wouldn't object to it. There are times I feel that starting a new topic would be frivolous, so I post in here instead. I could create new threads on whatever floats my boat (hint: it's water).
