Goddammit. I saw a mouse. I live on the second floor. How did a mouse get in here? Time to go shopping for a trap.

You probably carried it there in order to move your cursor?

It's funny because mouse has a second meaning besides a rodent, which is that of being a tool used to operate a computer.

No. The buck stops here.

Also why are tomatoes sometimes classified as a fruit again? Which is it?

They are a fruit. They are sometimes classified as vegetables though.

I believe they are a fruit botanically speaking, but a vegetable in terms of how they are generally eaten and prepared as they are not as sweet as most fruits. Apparently, they are not alone though. Wikipedia offers this: "Tomatoes are not the only food source with this ambiguity: green beans, eggplants, cucumbers, and squashes of all kinds (such as zucchini and pumpkins) are all botanically fruits, yet cooked as vegetables." Kind of makes me wonder why everyone always seems to get hung up tomatoes in particular as being fruits.

I have never heard anyone describe a cucumber or green bean as a fruit. My guess is that people tend to associate fruit with taste/sweetness, and tomatoes are just in the gray area where you could describe them as a fruit, have the listener think of fruit <=> sweetness, and decide that's buyable.

Then again, I think cucumbers are a bit sweeter than tomatoes and no one confuses those. I guess that's more of a shape thing. Fruits are generally round and sweet, and tomatoes are approximations of round and sweet things.

Weird, I find tomatoes much sweeter than cucumbers.

Granted, my favourite way to eat tomatoes is raw and salted, and salt brings out sweetness (if you don't believe me, try it with tomatoes, pineapples or watermelon).  Then again, I salt cucumbers too and they still don't match tomatoes.

I have never heard anyone describe a cucumber or green bean as a fruit.

You don't know many botanists then.  Certainly no one is going to cook green beans or cucumber as if they were fruits.  But botanically, the cucumber is most closely related to the melons--all are in the same genus!  The family (Cucurbitaceae) also includes watermelon, squash, and other gourd fruits.

Basically, any fleshy mass derived from the plant's ovaries are fruits.

Maybe we're all caught up in this hot new research:

This made me laugh, the bibliography was a scream.  My favorite citation:

My company is giving each employee a free turkey. Yay!

My wife also works at the company. Yay!

We're getting two turkeys. Um…

First-world problems indeed.

There's a way to opt out, right? I assume your company is willing to hire vegetarians, etc.

They work in a rehab company. It doesn't accept opt outs, because getting rid of all those turkeys in any other way would be more expensive.

My mom gets a bunch of turkeys every year and cooks them throughout the year.
