For people who aren't all the same person, how much weirder is it that they merge into one account? .... recalls the trope of the couple that is always joined at the hip and seem to have melded into one being.

That is an ideal for some people, not a trope.

Married couples often merge all their assets and accounts (e.g. bank accounts). Why should Facebook be different? I know couples who use one page jointly because they only want to use it for family updates (much like the family email account enfynet mentioned earlier.)

Facebook is a tool to be used, and it can absolutely be successfully used jointly (though I refuse to use it at all).

I understand that.  If they want to have an account for family updates, that makes sense.  Nonetheless, it's strange to get rid of the individual facebook accounts.  The difference between that and merging assets is that your Facebook profile is an online persona, an avatar, an individual.  Note that corporations and clubs and such may maintain pages on Facebook as well, but they don't have personal profiles.  So it's strange to see the individual wiped away and replaced by a joint account.

To put it another way, it's like if you got married and proceeded to delete all of your online accounts on f.ds, reddit, BGG, whatever and then made brand new joint accounts for all of them, even if your partner was not a part of those communities previously.

As far as this trope being an ideal... I totally get that marriage is a sacred, meaningful bond, and that the idea of two becoming one can be taken very seriously.  Even so, I don't think rational human beings in a healthy relationship will spend every single moment of their married lives together.

So, I'm going over some of our financial reports at work and I feel the need to change the format I came up with a few years ago. I feel like I am trying to display too much information at one time. I'd also like to add comparisons for 1-year (last year vs this year), 5-year (last 5 average vs this year), and 10-year trends. We look at these reports weekly, as an overview of our performance for the year vs last year.

I'm not sure if I should try consolidating this information, or just leaving it as it is already. I spent a lot of time setting up these Excel sheets 5 years ago, but I'm not sure if this is really the best way to present all the information.

This is what my reports currently display, with each week on a new line:
YTD Total, Attendance, Box Office, Concession Gross, Average Ticket, Concession Per Cap, Payroll Hours, Payroll Dollars, Efficiency, along with last year-same week comparisons for nearly each category.

I'm currently inputting 5 variables, and resulting in a sheet that has almost 20 columns of information, for 52 weeks. Surely there has to be a cleaner way to do this?

Marriage is basically two people becoming one, so I think it isn't that weird, even though most people don't do it.

Are you married? The classic vows may indicate this, but I don't think it's really how it shakes out, even metaphorically.

it would be really sad if you lost all of your individuality upon being married

I'm not making any statements about how it works out; just that it isn't simply two people being weird.

I was browsing the Smashboards (the main site for competitive Super Smash Bros. discussion) and noticed a reference to one popsofctown in a rules discussion. Didn't know he played Smash competitively - and apparently he's a "Smash champion", whatever that means (I assume it means he's won at least one tournament?). Maybe he can chime in, perhaps that's just a title he chose for himself, or something.

But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.

Actually, the Argentinian state and both religions I know of (Jewish and Catholic) describe marriage as a contract, not a contraction of both people into one.

Of course, the level of "togetherness" of each couple is personal. I know couples that I think share excessively to the point of making it impossible for each person to be without the other, and couples that feel like business partners to my eyes. And I am sure my own couple looks a lot like the former to the later.

Only one mafia game going.  Weird.

Only one mafia game ready to launch, and it can't get started.  Weirder.

No one posting in the ongoing game.  Very weird.

Must be the holidays.

Goddammit. I saw a mouse. I live on the second floor. How did a mouse get in here? Time to go shopping for a trap.

You probably carried it there in order to move your cursor?
