I played Guilds for the first time tonight.

I have a confession to make... I've never played Dark Ages.

Where I "live", the physical version got sold out in less than a month, and it never got reprinted...

Are you a ghost that can only interact with the physical world through a fixed conduit?

And? Was it not a crazy experience? I got my mind blown with the overpay cards the first time.

It was a bit overwhelming and I played it, well not terribly, but not nearly as well as I could have.

Ooh, Halloween content for Team Fortress 2. Nice. It's a goofy mod, and I probably won't be sad when it expires Nov 12. But it did cause me to boot up TF2 for the first time in a long time.

Someday I'm going to get back to my Wasteland 2 game.

I'm considering opening my copy of Fallout New Vegas. I just haven't convinced myself yet.

I'm considering opening my copy of Fallout New Vegas. I just haven't convinced myself yet.

I really enjoyed New Vegas. I recently bought all the DLC so I'm playing it again (5th time actually that I'm playing it again). Some of the DLC is good, some not so good. But I really liked the amount of stuff to do in the world, and I really liked how there were more settlements than in fallout 3. It felt like you can really take a side in the story, go and wipe out other factions or just take over New Vegas for yourself.

Also a lot of the locations are smaller, but with more locations. It made things like the Vaults feel really important as going through them took much longer than a regular location, and large locations were quite unique, often hiding actual good loot as opposed to just random chests with generic guns in them.

What English sounds like to non-native English speakers

I heard about this (or something very like it) on public radio a few months ago. I honestly couldn't decide whether to be offended.

As a native English speaker, this is what English sounds like. Really, English is all in the hips.

I think this could reasonably be labeled "What Indo-European language X sounds like to non-X (but still Indo-European) speakers"

I was hearing hints of Spanish and Russian.

Sure, but it's still racist, or something very like that.

Yeah, English doesn't roll its 'R's like that song does in places.

I don't know how you could consider this offensive, it looks like a pretty harmless, natural reaction to the omnipresence of English in a country that doesn't speak the language. Like, it's just lampshading that non-anglophones speak utter nonsense when singing, say, the Beatles, same way nobody cares whether they are singing gangnam style properly. Or, more precisely, that all English songs sound the same to the non-trained ear.

Compare this to the routinely expressed opinion that German sounds like barking...

I'm pretty sure that's just because the singer's accent is showing.

Humanity just landed on a comet :)

I had no idea this was a thing before you mentioned it, and now it is freaking everywhere. Google, Facebook, xkcd...

How many of you knew this was going on two days ago?

I've heard of the mission before, but didn't really know much about it.

I could have sworn it was planned for 2015, but might be remembering a different mission?

Maybe you're thinking of this one?  Pluto and comets aren't too far off.

Ok, I think I know what happened. The mission *ends* in 2015 and I probably had assumed that's when the landing was supposed to happen.

I just got an email

(translate)

Quote
dear telekom customer,
your current bill for your customer ID 69583 is ready in PDF format for you *link*

in your account, you will find all bills in the bills-overview
the immediate value of 230,38€ will shortly be charged from your account

best regards,
your telekom

I don't have an account, or have done anything that could warrant such a high bill. the link contains a .zip which contains an .exe with an icon that resembles .pdf. Upon running it (I know, I shouldn't have), it deleted itself.

I got a bad feeling. I think I recall a virus once that I installed which took effect after restarting my PC. what should I do?
