I so didn't need to see that.

butt really

I'm so confused right now, I thought I was in the random stuff thread but it turns out it's the thread on the 206th card.

Ah the memories.

And yes, there is an xkcd strip about this very thing:
http://thestack.com/password1-mnemonic-password-methods

I'm glad it acknowledged the problem with discussing security on the internet. Any solution they publish could be picked up by hackers.

Another Touhou mix. Mix of orchestrated songs and folk-like songs, personally like the ones starting at 6:35, 13:47, and the two songs by Frontier Aja.

I never thought my humble topic would grow to become a 5000+ post monster, but I'm glad we kept all of it out of the other topics. :)

Removing festival wristband

Quote
I heard about a method using an unfolded crisp packet using the silvery greasy side against your wrist it helps it slide off easily. Not 100% sure of the process but it I've been told it works.

If you just start tearing it off from the place you put it on, it wrips the paper in two the really thin way and eventually just comes off.  It's really easy.

Since TINAS is talking about using grease, I'm assuming the key thing is to slip the wristband off without wrecking it, so that you can slip it on again later (or let somebody else put it on).  The method you describe for simply removing the band is well known, and even if TINAS didn't know it he would surely just use scissors or a knife rather than resorting to some obscure grease technique.

My girlfriend likes a band called The World Is a Beautiful Place and I am No Longer Afraid to Die.

I call them (and a lot of other bands she likes) Let's Get Pretentious.

A while ago, Extra Credits featured a game called Hands of Fate (via "James Recommends").  It's currently part of an EC-themed humble bundle, currently available here.  It's still in Early Access but looks like something that people here would like.  It mixes rogue-like elements with deckbuilding and Arkham City-style combat.

Man, just tear the wristband off; it's not that hard.  Keep pulling until it breaks.

Mathematicians never have unstable tables:

totally doing this the next time I have an unstable table

This assumes that the ground is continuous though. What about bricks? Bricks are the worst. Also, I've definitely found that the problem is sometimes with the table and not with the ground.

I call my ex pretentious. Coincidentally her name ended in "lie" as well.

At least it's not assuming a frictionless plane.

Well, if the table is on a large patch of wet grass, it's modeled fairly accurately as a frictionless plain.

But not strictly better, because the spinoff can have a different cost than the expansion.

You know, I do love Excel... most of the time... but then sometimes you have to debug or edit formulae that look like this:

This is the point someone says something like "You're trying to convert data from a spreadsheet to a wiki right? You know there's a much quicker way to do that by doing [X]". And then I feel stupid.
