Regarding relatives. In Swedish pretty much every relative is a combination of words for the closest relative. So we have mother (mor), father (far), sister (syster), brother (bror), daughter (dotter) and son (son). So my maternal grandmother is mormor (mother mother) and my grandfather would be morfar (mother father). My paternal uncle would be farbror (father brother), however aunts have derived a bit from what you expect, due to syster being a two syllable word. So my paternal aunt is faster derived from farsyster (father sister), and the maternal counterpart is moster derived from morsyster (mother sister). Nieces and nephews are systerdotter (sister daughter), brorsdotter (brother's daughter [I have no idea why this one is possessive]), systerson (sister son) and brorson (brother son). Grandchildren are usually just called barnbarn (children children), but nobody will give it a second thought if you talk about your sonson (son son) or dotterdotter (daughter daughter) or something like that. Cousins and further away are just cousins, though.
