I want to start wearing kilts. I hear they're so comfortable, and I wouldn't mind having some ventilation come summertime. But man, kilts online just seem so expensive. Sadly, I have no illusion that they're any cheaper in person. I know a few people through Ren Fest, so I have the means to get in touch with the right person to make one.

But it's not for Scottish heritage or anything like that. I just want a functional kilt.

Get a skirt. Seriously. Why are kilts ok for men to wear while skirts are frowned upon?

Personally i'm scared of wearing things that people will think of as questionable. I'd always fear they'd believe it has to do with my sexuality - which bugs me mostly because, unlike a straight person, i can't really give a good answer to that.

Either way, i wore a skirt on 2013/2014's New Years eve. It was a murder mystery party, and we had more female roles than we had female participants. Great fun. Also i got to poisen the Butler.

Yeah, although more accurately a small number of trolls keep trying to bring it up, then a larger-than-normal # of people comment on it saying "lol stop trying to start drama", but at that point it's still the most commented post on the subreddit.
