What does the metagame look like? I suspect Murlocs and Druid are dominant; it just does too much damage and buffs up too fast, before the opponent has enough mana to clear. But then Turn 1 Innervate + Deathlord seems pretty good, right? What do you think?

Yeah, I suspect the buffing classes win this style of play.  Druid just has the huge advantage with Innervates.  Do we still get 3/4 cards to start?

If you aren't playing against a Druid, you work around the 2/3 mana spells.  So first player can put out a 5 mana minion, second player a 6 mana minion.  If it can't be removed by a 3-cost card, you can plan to buff it up on Turn 2.

I can't imagine the game lasting to turn 5 with perfect play.

Aren't there ways to win turn 1?

I didn't know Celestial Chameleon played Hearthstone.

Rogue can win turn 2 on the draw, but that loses to any 1 or 2 drop removal. Only turn 1 win is in Arena (or against opponent Innervate Millhouse).

Perfect offense and perfect defense, shouldn't it be more of a stalemate?

This sounds a bit like 5 Card Blind. It's a forum game for MtG: the rules are that you each pick 5 MtG cards, at the start of the game you both reveal your hands, and the winner is the person who wins with perfect play. There's some restrictions to prevent turn 1 combo wins and other things, but there are enough Magic cards that it turns into a meta-prediction game.

You might be able to do something similar with Hearthstone, but you have to tweak the number of cards you get, and possibly take out fatigue damage.

Edit: the other tricky part is that in the MtG game, you assume all random cards are as bad as possible. In Hearthstone, that makes Shaman really hard to figure out...
