By the way I'm way behind on the Zeldas. I just recently beat A Link to the Past for the millionth time and Ocarina of Time for the first time. I'm trying to find a cheap copy of Majora's Mask but no plans to invest in any other consoles. I've seen a lot of Wind Waker and Skyward Sword and they seem... different... don't know anything about Twilight Princess.
You just beat OoT for the first time? Woah, to be 11 years old again! Did you enjoy it? OoT is one of my favorite gaming experiences, surpassed only by... Majora's Mask. Majora's Mask is not only the greatest Zelda game, but the greatest video game of all time, in my opinion. I hope you find a copy (it's available on the Wii virtual console). Playing it right after you beat OoT is the right way to do it; MM is meant to be enjoyed by someone who just beat OoT. It's a perfect, brilliant, creepy extension of OoT. Haunting and beautiful. "You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?"
Twilight Princess is the weakest major Zelda game, IMO, though still quite fun. It's problem is that it relies far too heavily on A Link to the Past and OoT. The plot and world seem a bit too generic, and recycled from those superior games. It has some very cool dungeons, though, and improved combat. The first three dungeons seem heavily recycled but the next four are great.
Wind Waker is a true delight. It warms the soul. A triumph. Weak on dungeons and cool boss fights, though.
I've seen Skyward Sword get a lot of criticism--I don't understand why. The plot, I suppose, is really delayed in the game--you don't understand what you are doing until the end, and that's a tad annoying. The locations are gorgeous, though. They just give you like four main areas to explore and discover new aspects of, and it works well. The desert/mining area is one of my favorite Zelda locations. So much memory and loss, and a perfect soundtrack. Great dungeons, great bosses, great combat.
Can you tell I like Zelda games?
