SETUP

This game will be using WIFOM, a 13-person semi-open setup designed by Archetype and a revision of the setup used in M38: Super Mario Mafia.

The "base" setup is as follows:

Quote

3 Mafia:

Ganondorf: 1-shot Psychotrooper
Kotake: Goon A
Koume: Goon B

10 Town:

Link: 1-shot Commuting Innocent Child
Sheik: 3-shot Alignment Cop
Hylians: 8 Vanilla Townies

Pregame, 0-5 Modifications will be made to the above setup. Each Modification has a 50% chance of being present. They will alter the setup by adding more power roles to both the Town and the Mafia:

Modification 1:

Kotake -> 2-shot Roleblocker
Vanilla Townie -> Saria (Doctor)

Modification 2:

Kotake -> Flavor Cop

Vanilla Townie -> Nabooru (Town Roleblocker)

Modification 3:

Koume -> 2-shot Rolestopper

Vanilla Townie ->Darunia (Watcher)

Modification 4:
Koume -> 1-shot Ninja

Vanilla Townie -> Ruto (Tracker)

Modification 5:
Ganondorf -> Cop Enabler

Vanilla Townie -> Impa (Universal Backup)

Here's what the setup looks like when ALL the Modifications are present:
Quote
3 Mafia:
Ganondorf: Cop Enabling 1-shot Psychotrooper
Kotake: Flavor Copping 2-shot Roleblocker
Koume: 2-shot Rolestopping 1-shot Ninja

10 Town:
Link: 1-shot Commuting Innocent Child
Sheik: 3-shot Alignment Cop
Ruto: Tracker
Darunia: Watcher
Saria: Doctor
Nabooru: Roleblocker
Impa: Universal Backup
3 Hylian/Vanilla Townies

Mechanics:

- When players die, only their Flavor Name and Alignment will be revealed.
- Mafia cannot complete the factional kill and use a power in the same night.
- Rolestopping resolves before Town!Roleblocking which resolves before Mafia!Roleblocking

Role Clarifications:
- 1-shot Psychotrooper is an Active power. The night they choose to use it, the Alignment Cop will get the opposite result for their investigation (Scum instead of Town and Town instead of Scum).
- Investigative powers receive "No Result" if there action was blocked in anyway.
- When the Cop Enabler dies, all Alignment Cop Investigations return "No Result"
- Flavor Cop is told their target's Flavor Name. It is used in conjunction with Roleblocking if they are both present.
- Ninja can be used to modify the user's Factional Kill or Rolestopping
- Rolestopping doesn't stop Kills
- The Universal Backup inherits the first Town Power Role that dies. A Town PR with 0-shots left (if they are an X-shot Role) does not count for UB inheritance. The Innocent Child's 1-shot Commuter can be inherited by the UB.
- Tracker and Watcher receive distinct results for "no action" and "no result"

Natural Action Resolution:
Commuting
Rolestopping
Town!Roleblocking
Scum!Roleblocking
Protecting
Killing
Investigating

Sample PMS:

Quote
Welcome, [player name], to Legend of Zelda Mafia! You are a Link (1-shot Commuting Innocent Child). You are the Hero of Time, and armed with the legendary Master Sword and the magical Ocarina of Time, it's your destiny to lead the people of Hyrule in the battle against the evil Ganondorf!

In the first post of the game, your identity as an innocent child will be revealed by the mod. In addition, during the night phase you may use your Commuter shot. On that night, all actions taken on you will automatically fail.

You win when all mafia members have been eliminated.

Quote
Welcome, [player name], to Legend of Zelda Mafia! You are a Sheik (Town 3-shot Cop). You are a member of the mysterious Sheikah, and are totally NOT Princess Zelda in a disguise, why would you even suggest that. You have all the training and lore of the Sheikah at your disposal, and you're ready to help guide the Hero of Time in his quest to defeat evil!

Each night, you may spend a shot to target a player. You will be told that player's alignment via PM. You begin the game with 3 such shots.

You win when all mafia members have been eliminated.

Quote
Welcome, [player name], to Legend of Zelda Mafia! You are a Saria (Town Doctor). You are the Sage of Forest and an old friend of the Hero. Though you are not physically imposing, the magic of the Forest is at your disposal, and it's sure to come in aid of the Hero's quest.

Each night, you may target a player. That player will be protected from the Mafia's factional kill.

You win when all mafia members have been eliminated.

Quote
Welcome, [player name], to Legend of Zelda Mafia! You are a Ruto (Town Tracker). You are the Sage of Water and Princess of the Zoras, and you're eager to lend your help to the dashing Hero. One might say, almost too eager. You have a knack for sticking your nose in where it doesn't belong, and while you learn a lot that way, it's gotten you into trouble in the past. But you're pretty sure you can handle yourself.

Each night, you may target a player. You will be told via PM who, if anyone, that player targeted on that night.

You win when all mafia members have been eliminated.

Quote
Welcome, [player name], to Legend of Zelda Mafia! You are a Darunia (Town Watcher). You are the Sage of Fire, and as the leader of the Gorons, you owe a great deal to the Hero of Time. You're ready to use your strength and wisdom to help him in any way you can.

Each night, you may target a player. You will be told via PM who, if anyone, targeted that player on that night.

You win when all mafia members have been eliminated.

Quote
Welcome, [player name], to Legend of Zelda Mafia! You are a Nabooru (Town Roleblocker). You are the Sage of Spirit, and what's more, Ganondorf was a member of your Gerudo tribe, so you feel that it's your responsibility to help end his evil reign. But you're still a thief, and your methods are... less than savory. Still, what the Hero doesn't know can't hurt him, right?

Each night, you may target a player. Any actions attempted by that player (including Mafia's factional kill) will fail.

You win when all mafia members have been eliminated.

Quote
Welcome, [player name], to Legend of Zelda Mafia! You are a Impa (Town Universal Backup). As the Sage of Shadow and a member of the mysterious Sheikah, you have a wide range of talents, but you're willing to let others take center stage for the time being. If the need arises, though, you'll gladly step forward.

You begin the game with no special powers, but when the first town PR dies, you will inherit all of their powers (I will inform you of this via PM). If the IC is the first PR to die and has not used their 1-shot commuter, you will inherit the 1-shot commuter but not the IC status.

You win when all mafia members have been eliminated.

Quote
Welcome, [player name], to Legend of Zelda Mafia! You are a Hylian (Vanilla Townie). You have no special powers, but you'll do whatever you can to help the Hero of Time in his quest to save Hyrule!

Your only power is your vote, so use it well. You win when all mafia members have been eliminated.

Quote
Welcome, [player name], to Legend of Zelda Mafia! You are a Ganondorf (1-shot psychotrooper/Cop enabling 1-shot psychotrooper). The king of thieves, holder of the Triforce of Power, an sorcerer of unthinkable evil power, and all-around badass. The so-called Hero of Time and his motley crew don't stand a chance against you!

Your partners are [player name] and [player name] and during the night, you can talk to them here: [mario]. You win when mafia are the majority alignment or nothing can prevent it. Each night that you don't perform the factional kill, you may spend your Psychotrooper shot. On that night, any results received by the Cop will be reversed. [In addition, if you are ever killed, all cop investigations will return "no result" after that.]

Quote
Welcome, [player name], to Legend of Zelda Mafia! You are a Kotake (Mafia Goon/2-shot roleblocker/flavor cop/2-shot roleblocking flavor cop). A witch of the Gerudo, you are one of Ganondorf's most loyal minions, and you're ready to use all of your magic and wiles to aid him.

Your partners are [player name] and [player name] and during the night, you can talk to them here: [mario]. You win when mafia are the majority alignment or nothing can prevent it. [Each night that you don't perform the factional kill, you may spend a shot to Roleblock any player. Any actions that player takes that night will fail. [You will also be told that players flavor name. On nights that you don't perform the kill or use this ability, you can still investigate a player and be told their flavor name.]][On nights that you don't perform the factional kill, you may investigate any player. You will be told that player's flavor name.]

Quote
Welcome, [player name], to Legend of Zelda Mafia! You are a Koume (Mafia Goon/2-shot rolestopper/1-shot ninja/2-shot rolestopper 1-shot ninja).

[Each night that you don't perform the factional kill, you may spend a shot to Rolestop any player. Any actions EXCEPT the mafia kill taken on that player will fail.][When you make the factional kill, you may use your Ninja shot to be invisible to Trackers and Watchers. [You can also use this shot to make a Rolestop use invisible.]]

So if the IC is Link, does that mean he's only allowed to speak in "Ha!"s and "Hyah!"s?

By the way I'm way behind on the Zeldas. I just recently beat A Link to the Past for the millionth time and Ocarina of Time for the first time. I'm trying to find a cheap copy of Majora's Mask but no plans to invest in any other consoles. I've seen a lot of Wind Waker and Skyward Sword and they seem... different... don't know anything about Twilight Princess.

I'm trying to find a cheap copy of Majora's Mask but no plans to invest in any other consoles. You just beat OoT for the first time? Woah, to be 11 years old again! Did you enjoy it? OoT is one of my favorite gaming experiences, surpassed only by... Majora's Mask. Majora's Mask is not only the greatest Zelda game, but the greatest video game of all time, in my opinion. I hope you find a copy (it's available on the Wii virtual console). Playing it right after you beat OoT is the right way to do it; MM is meant to be enjoyed by someone who just beat OoT. It's a perfect, brilliant, creepy extension of OoT. Haunting and beautiful. "You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?"

Twilight Princess is the weakest major Zelda game, IMO, though still quite fun. It's problem is that it relies far too heavily on A Link to the Past and OoT. The plot and world seem a bit too generic, and recycled from those superior games. It has some very cool dungeons, though, and improved combat. The first three dungeons seem heavily recycled but the next four are great.

Wind Waker is a true delight. It warms the soul. A triumph. Weak on dungeons and cool boss fights, though.

I've seen Skyward Sword get a lot of criticism--I don't understand why. The plot, I suppose, is really delayed in the game--you don't understand what you are doing until the end, and that's a tad annoying. The locations are gorgeous, though. They just give you like four main areas to explore and discover new aspects of, and it works well. The desert/mining area is one of my favorite Zelda locations. So much memory and loss, and a perfect soundtrack. Great dungeons, great bosses, great combat.

Can you tell I like Zelda games?

Thanks for the brief reviews. Now I really need to pick up MM! I remember playing OoT as a kid but I don't remember getting past the fire temple for some  reason. I've watched parts of let's plays for Wind Waker and it just seems too different for me personally. Skyward Sword looks really cool though.
