Virginia, DC, East Coast US Meetup? Perhaps?

I know there's a few of you in DC, but is anyone else in Virginia?  Chicago (and Montreal) is definitely a little too far away, but I'd be down for a meetup somewhere in the Mid-Atlantic area.  DC has the whole central thing going on.  Anyone else?

Sure, if someone can organize something there.  I'd organize something in SC but DC/Virginia/NC seem better geographically.

So who could host in DC?

Heron and I could. But NYC might bring more people out.

EDIT: Didn't mean to volunteer you Heron. It depends on what "host" entails.

An NYC meeting would probably be awesome, but I would love to see a mid-Atlantic one personally. (since I wouldn't have to travel nearly as much)

Yeah I'm with you but judging by this thread it'd be a small gathering, which is fine too!

I don't own any sets of Dominion and I'm not in touch with the DC gaming community. Would we meet up at a gaming night? Or what?

Virginia's good; the further south; the more likely I'd be there; but DC wouldn't be out of the question at all either.

I'd also bring all Dominion sets and Promos, so make it not too far from Raleigh!

Virginia's great, and I live there, but I don't really have the space to host.

My apartment is pretty small. 4-5 people is pushing it, any more than that is probably not a good idea.

I was thinking more in terms of sleeping quarters.  If you guys want to drive to Williamsburg and back in the same day, my apartment certainly has game-playing space.

My house could accommodate 10 or so for game playing.  I have three good game-playing surfaces and reasonable seating for 10. (I can also buy more chairs, and if a group wanted to sit outside then 14-16 would be possible, but you DO NOT want to do this in the summer here).  Technically, there's floor space.  Unfortunately, Columbia is a bit far south for most and the airport is not always cheap/convenient to fly in to.  There is a cool board game store here that could potentially be willing to let us do some sort of event, but I have no actual rapport with them. I also own all Dominion expansions, so there's that.

That's all I've got.  I am not a great organizer, I just have space.

I suppose I should have mentioned that I can host; I have the room and the games. But it sounds like Raleigh is too far south for most people.

Yeahhh..... maybe. I mean I probably have a place to crash in Raleigh but I'd rather do DC, considering I live 5 minutes from the DC line and all. We should take a poll! Raleigh, Williamsburg, maybe somewhere like Charlottesville, or DC.

You're in Richmond?  You're not even an hour away from me.  We could totally do a day thing.

I'm probably moving to Raleigh, NC area end of august/early september, so I'm in for anything within driving distance of that.

What about Lancaster, PA on Friday, August 8th and 9th?

Just in time for this.  http://boardgamers.org/yearbkex/dompge.htm

Both theory and I have a 2nd in this event, but no f.ds'ers have ever won.  Let's fix that this year.

I'll also buy large quantities of good beer for everyone of age.

Let me know if you're looking for games in general; I'm always looking for more people to join my game night.

single elimination dominion tournaments with 4-player games make me sad.  I have played in several.

if you want to win at 4p, you will have to practice because it is very different from 2p.

especially when most games played are just base set.  Pure luck for the winner.

Man. I had four strips of bacon yesterday. Was one automatically undercooked, one automatically overcooked? No, let's put a stop to that right here, all four strips were excellent.

yes.  4p base games can be fun, but they're pretty useless for picking the wheat from the chaff in the first round of a tournament.
