So, I start playing with someone.  I'm thinking of my strategy (I'm P1), and after a bit he says "?" I started explaining I was planning my strategy, then he suddenly resigned, it said "Your opponent is having connection trouble", then he said "good for you."  It made me go ?...

Some people want to play quickly, and don't want to play with those who think through their play. Generally they put "fast play please" or something in their table names, so I just don't join their games. Just take the free rating points and go start another game

I get that, but him having connection trouble then saying something right afterwards is also weird.

I am pretty sure the "Connection trouble" message is meaningless most of the time.  Sure, it happens when people quit the game sometimes, but often the game will just keep going because nothing's wrong.

"Your opponent is having connection trouble" basically means...   "Something may or may not be going wrong.  Pray that it does not go wrong further."
