I don't know if this has been done or not but if so it is so buried that I can't find it.  The purpose of this thread is to post interesting kingdoms that you played.  That is it.  No analysis.  No logs.  No nothing that could cause Spoils to someone elses play of the Kingdom.  The idea is that if you want an interesting game of Dominion you can come to this thread and see numerous kingdoms which other people found fun to play without the threat of seeing how the kingdom was played.  Here's one to get started.

On a side note, I guess we can assume provinces unless otherwise stated?  It does change how the game will evolve.  This game had provinces at least

Man. I had four strips of bacon yesterday. Was one automatically undercooked, one automatically overcooked? No, let's put a stop to that right here, all four strips were excellent.

Yeah, i think assume provinces/estates unless otherwise stated.

I currently imagine mail-mi wearing a dark trenchcoat and a bowler hat, hunched over a bit, toothpick in his mouth, holding a gun in his pocket.  One bead of sweat trickling down his nose.

But don't assume Duchies. That would be bad.

We could always use spoiler tags.

I.e., The Governor/Fortress/Border Village combo in Schneau's is pretty cute.

I think I should probably say this in the form of the unpopular opinion puffin meme.... but I think that Possession makes for interesting and unique games of Dominion.

I have always been mildly annoyed when it shows up, and this game was indeed long and at times painful. But the decisions made were really, really interesting, and made for a pretty incredible game--planning becomes so important when each player takes 4 turns in a row.

What are people using to make these kingdom displays? It looks like some sort of tool, so link?

I dunno, but it could (in the future) be done via a word filter. You replace say "[card]City[/card]" with the string that's a link to the card article with an image of the card (or man, just the image, we can find the wiki if we want to). And so on for every card. It's a lot of word filtering but then you could easily stick card images into your posts.

They use Andrews kingdom visualizer which is discussed here.

I was going to do that, until I noticed the image links aren't uniform.

Well you can find the images in the wiki. Or use the visual spoiler site, those are uniform (http://dominion.diehrstraits.com/). But I meant, an admin could set up word filters.

Yes, I could have looked up the images. But the thing was it looked like they were automatically generated, which would be way quicker - and they were.

Yes, I could have looked up the images. But the thing was it looked like they were automatically generated, which would be way quicker - and they were.
Despite the fact that you have a different way to get the images, "here is how to get images with regular urls" was in fact a correct rebuttal to your "but the urls aren't regular." You have not successfully contradicted that here, despite your correct assertion that there is another way for you to get the images. It sounds like you are contradicting me but you aren't.

I see though that the real problem is that I was unclear in my first post. I said something, and you replied, "I was going to do that," and you were clearly not in fact going to do "that" at any point, because "that" would be "be an admin and set up word filters." You aren't an admin so you wouldn't be doing "that."

My message is entirely, let me repeat, that an admin, not you, could set up word filters (the part of forum software that gets rid of naughty language in posts automatically) to handle image generation in posts in a spiffy manner. People posting would type something like "[card]City[/card] and it would be translated automatically by the word filter into a long string with an image link for the City card. I don't imagine theory will ever get around to it but there it is to marvel at.

Hope this is clearer. Also your first mistake was getting Moneylender.

Right, yeah, I was still half asleep when I first replied, I get what you're saying now. That definitely would be convenient in the future.

And um, thanks. But really, moneylender? On that board, it seems pretty strong to me? I'll just post the board in question (it's from a thread in help, if you don't want to spoil yourself), I think it's just about interesting enough for this thread anyway (spoiler: DXV thinks Moneylender is a bad opener)

I would have gone with Trade Route, since it doesn't degrade like Moneylender and can get rid of Curses and Estates. Moneylender is always a decent opener since it can launch you to $5 pretty quickly so it wasn't a terrible choice if you wanted to get a Witch as early as possible. But eventually it becomes useless since you might draw it without coppers, especially when someone is throwing more junk into your deck, and then it might as well be another Curse for the good it does you.

So yeah I wouldn't say it was especially strong on that board with Trade Route and Witch in the mix (that is, relative to other boards, where it might be stronger).

I've argued here in rather forceful terms why you want an early Trade Route. An amplified version of the same argument should hold for Moneylender, which is the only sensible open.

I've always been happy to illustrate to those unswayed by my rhetoric the correctness of its underlying logic by means of a few trial games. This invitation is handed out with all the more eagerness to Dominion's sole creator.

Point taken. I don't know what would be best here though, truly. The thing about this board is The pin is blocked by Prince of Masquerades. Then there could be a way for KC KC B B B, but heavy saboteur and goons action could throw a wrench in that….. And then there's also something with KC-Possession that could help you out.

(Hint for those who may not have figured it out: Possible strategy in the spoiler text.)

silvern, liopoil: There should be no SPOILS (strategy tips) here!!!!!

I don't get it, no card gains Spoils in that kingdom.

Sorry, poor English. Fixed.

This might have been my favorite board of this league season:

Code: [Select]
Hamlet, Herbalist, Masterpiece, Watchtower, Cutpurse, Monument, Treasure Map, Minion, Trading Post, Prince
Provinces / Estates

I'd probably sent it in for the champion/challenger match, if I wouldn't write my match report about it.

This is the Post your fun kingdoms to play thread.

I just played it, and did certainly enjoy it! There were so many combinations ready to go in that set that we didn't get to half of them before the game ended.

I think that that set was supposed to be "not fun" because of the multiple pins involved. On the other hand, without pins, it's a board filled with some of my favorite cards. There's a bit of an oddity in that Village (!) is actually your best source of draw once you thin, but I think there are actually several viable ways to approach the board.

Yeah, but my opponent Princed a masquerade early on so I never even tried for the pin, and he never got a King's Court so I knew I wasn't in too much danger from him. Also, neither of us trashed more than a couple copper so we ended up using masquerade for draw. With the copious amount of masquerading going on, Possession was certainly tempting but ended up being too slow.

This kingdom wasn't particularly fun to play, but very interesting. I have to say, it has been a 4-player game with Colonys:

Code: [Select]
Poor House, Squire, Trade Route, Sage, Armory, Quarry, Contraband, Counting House, Mystic, Grand Market

I know there's basically no trashing, but I don't care: Quarry+Grand Market always makes me happy.

I tried Trade Route + Quarry + Grand Market, but I didn't win.

Yet, the player who ended the game on a 3-pile also didn't win. So that was kind of awkward...

I wonder, if you could have built something around Sage + Counting House or if Contraband was actually good here.

One that I played last night as a random selection and found a lot of fun even though it contains one of my least favourite cards (Minion).

Stonemason
Philosopher's Stone
Baron
Quarry
Ghost Ship
Minion
Mystic
Outpost
Wharf
King's Court

Just had this kingdom come up that was quite good fun.

Code: [Select]
Transmute, University, Fortune Teller, Masquerade, Watchtower, Sea Hag, Ill-Gotten Gains, Jester, Tribute, Altar
Playing with Provinces/Shelters.

The board is lacking +buy but there are several other options for gaining engine components. Jester has some interesting interactions as there are cards you only want in the early stages of the game or ones you only want a limited number of. There were some interesting turns where Jester attacks involved spamming additional unwanted Sea Hags or Potions.
