How do I play this engine correctly?

Code: [Select]
Cellar, Chancellor, Market Square, Oracle, Bishop, Feast, Moneylender, Throne Room, Hunting Party, Mandarin
http://gokosalvager.com/static/logprettifier.html?20140523/log.516ddc20e4b082c74d7cbc04.1400902366457.txt

So I got a jump on HPs, trashed down pretty quick and started drawing my deck in no time. And then I thought... "now what?" My opponent was trashing golds with bishop and using the market square reaction to gain more golds but I thought it'd be better to double province every turn, which I wasn't able to do anyway. Should I have done the same and trashed golds for VP? Should I have gotten more throne rooms? Some oracles? Help me out here!

Bishop-MarketSquare is pretty strong. Turn 12 is your first Gold. You need a lot of money very fast, so more than 1 market square is in order if you're not going with Bishop. Otherwise in a Bishop mirror you need good splits on the market square and bishops I would think.

On turn 5 you could have bought a cellar and I think it would have been useful.

On turn 7 you can play the cards differently for different results. You could play the hunting party first and keep the market square in hand with an option to gain a gold. You could play the throne on the moneylender to trash two copper. I think both would have been stronger than your result, trashing one copper and buying one hunting party.

Turn 11 you buy a gold but I think you should now be creating an engine that can gain, draw, and trash in the same turn. This needs lots of action cards and the gold should be gained with the market squares. In fact, your opponent doesn't buy a single treasure all game and this is why he won.

Ok so the plan should be a lot of draw with TR+HP and then market square reactions with bishop for VP+gold and then buy a lot of provinces?

Here's another engine I just played that I'm confused about:

Maybe courtyard BM was the way to go here? Saboteur doesn't benefit me at all, it only hurts the other player. There's no engine card here that really supports me.

Open Marauder over FV and don't get an early Herbalist (and certainly not two). Make sure you first draw your deck each turn and have surplus economy so you actually have use for the extra buy, and only then get the Herbalist. It's much better to overpay for it late then have it stunt your growth early.

Marauder! I don't know why I didn't even consider marauder, that probably would've helped a lot. Good point about herbalist, thanks!
