Quick Topics for League scheduling?

There are like a dozen division-specific scheduling threads, which means that the "unread topics" view is very cluttered. Is it possible for us to use QTs (I think this stands for Quick Topics) for this instead of permanent public threads? I don't quite know what they are, but I know that forum games often use these for private or restricted communications; I get the idea that they're like a persistent chat room, or a single-thread subforum that doesn't show up in the Unread Topics view.

Having something like that would greatly improve the usability of the forum, and also the league itself: with the layout Stef has arranged, most post-game discussions will be ignored by most players, because he asked for them to be put in the same thread as the scheduling. I don't care what time division B-2 plans to play their games, but if someone posts a discussion of an interesting game I'd be happy to read about it.

Quick topics are basically threads on another forum/site that is made solely to host those threads. See http://www.quicktopic.com/

Given that all results are posted in one results thread, I don't see the harm in this.

Edit: Although for your scenario in particular, you rely on people posting interesting stuff in the forum, and non-interesting stuff in the quick topic, and now you get subjectivity and people might add one more link to their "obsessively check" list to make sure they don't miss anything. Or not. Depends on the person.

I don't—yet—particularly mind the flood of league posts.  One solution to hiding them would be to add a scheduling subforum in the league forum, which people could then hide from the recent posts view in their user settings.

I'd very much like to improve the structure of the threads, but I haven't figured out how yet.
I really don't want to send everyone to an external site / force them to create yet another account, unless it has a huge benefit.

So far I like the idea of a Subforum just for scheduling.

Please keep discussing.

It seems to me that the amount of scheduling-related posts should go down after the initial flurry of availability posting.  I predict that it's not an issue.  In our division I posted a nice schedule that the 7-player teams could follow, and also put one post down where I collected data on everyone's availability, settings preferences, card-ownership.  Basically, from here on out, the scheduling could be organized via PMs between players.

But I definitely like the ability to browse other users games, so I wouldn't want these threads to be done away with.

A scheduling subforum would be good. As a nonparticipant, I was planning on "ignoring" the entire league forum, but I do want to read game reports people type up.

I agree with separating scheduling and game reports. Moreover, if we ever move on a league system, rating games as interesting could be really nice, because the league adds a lot of games that people take more seriously, so having some ranking of the most interesting ones to read about would be really nice.

Added a subforum.
Thanks Theory.

I moved all the scheduling threads to the subform.
I created on new thread "Game reports & discussion" and moved some posts into it.

Is everyone ok with 1 thread for reports or should we have several? (for example 4: A, B, C, D)
For now I'll just stick with one but if it gets messy maybe split it up later.

Maybe having 4 would be more easy to look after one specific game

Even 15=8+4+2+1 would be nice to have things properly sorted. Having too many games on the same thread makes discussion be cut by new games. A thread per each group seems appropriate, and 3 games a week (on average) seems like a decent content for a thread.
