Shortest games around

Earlier today I played a Governor game that emptied the Provinces in just 10 turns. That's pretty fast, I thought, but I wonder how much faster the fastest games have been, and what cards tend to enable really short games?

I remember Adam and Qvist playing a really fast Hermit + Market Square mirror, which was over in just 7 1/2 turns. I haven't found any games faster than this, but I did find a game that comes close: it turns out Stonemason + Quarry + Wharf is a pretty big deal. Does anyone know of a game faster than these?

Also, note that these hyper-fast games are three-piles, whereas in my Governor game the score was 30-27 with all the Provinces gone. I was sure it's possible to get through the Provinces faster than we did, and indeed Andrew has me covered, picking up 42 VPs at once in a turn-9 finale. So far I haven't found anything faster; can anyone beat the 9-turn Province pile-out?

Edit: I found an improvement, buying all Provinces after 8 1/2 turns, using KC+Bridge with Chapel for trashing and Spy to connect the dots. D C managed to play 9 Bridges on turn 9, and he even politely refrained from piling it on with two free Duchies.

Edit: Qvist pointed out that the Stonemason/Quarry game is not as fast as the Hermit/MS game, so I've fixed that.

Governor leads on average to the fastest games. The average (!) number of turns is 2 full turns less than in games with the 2nd fastest card (Wharf). The gap between #1 and #2 is so big as the gap between #2 and #100 !!!

http://councilroom.com/popular_buys

My fastest games had 9 turns. One did end on 3-piling Menagerie, Stonemason, Hamlet. The other ended on 3 piling Market, Workers Village, Native Village (with Quarry)

This game was nuts. Haven't seen any game faster than it either. I'm also interested if any game comes close to this.
The second game you linked doesn't tie it btw, it's one turn slower, but it's also pretty cool. Quarry+Stonemason is really strong.

Necroing this thread because of recent events.

There are now two games faster than the game with Adam and me.
About a year ago Watno posted a game that lasted 7 turns and all Provinces were even emptied. See here.

Today I played a League match against Dingan that was just as fast. It did end on 3 piles though, so not quite as impressive, but seems still to be the fastest league match ever.
You can watch the game in this video or watch the replay (Game Id: 1161790, decision index: 154 if you want to see the log).

That was the slowest 7-turn game in history. :P

Are there some 5-6 turn games now? With villa and/or opening inheritance there should be some.

Market Square + Donate + Apprentice empties 8 Provinces in 8 turns even if only one player does it, so I think you can end the game on Provinces around turn 6 in a mirror. Maybe turn 5 with Shelters and really good shuffle luck.

Wait is it now possible to get logs on the web?

I played a 9-turn game some days ago, depleting the Bridge Troll, Port, and Hamlet piles. Putting Ferry on Bridge Troll in turn #1 helped a bit.

Turn 6 win from the World Cup semifinals: [...]

The link in the URL is to 1:07:23. I think turn 1 happens at around 1:07:05—but what's 18 seconds between friends? ;)

When I hit play on the embedded video it starts at 0:00:00. Does anyone experience anything different?

Just had a crazy fast Stonemason/Quarry/Villa game (3 turns).

Turn 3, draw Quarry + 4 Copper.
Stonemason -> 2 Villas (5 times).
Stonemason -> 2 Trade Route (4-5 times).
Win off museum points.

Jimbo had Quarry in hand, but never got to play his third turn!

This is so amazing that if I ever had the chance, I would do the same move even without Museum on the board. Sure I'd lose (if I were first player), but it would be totally worth it.

I played a crazy game which ended on piles by turn 7. (Game ID: 18570551) There were a ton of lurker shenanigans, Donate, and Governor to get some points at the end.

I won in 8 turns by emptying piles, and my opponent only bought one card the whole game (but still was close to winning in 7). We suspect he could have piled out in 7.

Good game, Personman

Another 7 turn game I played in a League match. Donate+Apprentice+Market Square is simply bonkers, plus there are a few other cards in the kingdom (most notably lurker+cultist) that add to the already busted strategy. Kinda shocked I won as P2, but my luck was a lot better than my opponent's.

Looking at this (random) Kingdom, I thought it was one of those crazy games that could win it in like 4 turns. Anyone know how? I won it in 9, but I bet it could have gone a lot faster. Honestly I didn't know the fastest route to victory; it was one of those Kingdoms that made my head hurt and I just sort of mash cards together and see what happens.

Random thoughts:
- Can buy Villas, or gain them from trash, then play a Scholar to essentially have a perpetual engine
- Can gain anything from the trash for that matter, including Processions you had recently Processed (into, say, Scholars), or Rogues you had recently Processed to gain stuff you had Processed earlier
- Can play Treasures multiple times per turn, by playing them, then gaining a Mandarin, then a Villa, then playing a Scholar -> repeat
- There's enough thinning, actions, buys, coins, etc. to hook it all together

If there's another $2 Action available to empty instead of Trade Route, you could use your $ to buy an Estate with your last buy for a win. ;) ;D

I wonder what would have been the best strategy on Dan's turn if he hadn't had enough $ in hand to empty the Trade Route pile..
